Default Moser 12 Bolt: What do I need?

About a month ago, I asked you guys advice on what kind of cam to get. Since then, my mechanic told me that my 10 bolt is on its last legs. So I'm going to spring for a 12-bolt with 4.10 gears and a posi diff. The only problem is, there are five or six options that I'm not sure what I will need. If you guys can give me a hand, that would be great. So, here's what I have, so you know where to start. '98 Camaro SS M6. (Not 1LE) Stock engine, transmission, suspension. Here's the options that Thunder Racing has available:

1. a. ABS setup with 3 channel exciter rings
b. ABS setup with 4 channel exciter rings

2. Moser 12 bolt Upgrade to 33 spline US Gear/ Eaton Posi

3. Moser 12 bolt Upgrade from standard 1310 Yoke to Stronger 1350 Yoke

4. Moser 12 bolt Upgrade from standard chrome cover to TA Performance aluminum cover

5. BMR Sway Bar Mount Kit, 3"-3.25" axle tubes w/ 19mm sway bar
(Required for mounting factory 19mm sway bar to Moser rear end)

6. BMR Sway Bar Mount Kit, 3"-3.25" axle tubes w/ 21mm sway bar
(Required for mounting factory 21mm sway bar to Moser rear end)

7. Spicer "Black Series" U-Joint for 1310 Yoke

8. BMR Sway Bar Mount Kit, 2.5"-2.75" axle tubes w/ 19mm sway bar

9. BMR Sway Bar Mount Kit, 2.5"-2.75" axle tubes w/ 21mm sway bar

My future mods are going to include a big cam. Probably along the lines of an MS3 or T-REX. (supposed to be this summer, but now that my axle needs to be replaced, they're getting pushed back) And possibly a 150 shot of nitrous on top of that eventually. So I'd like to handle ~700 hp and about the same torque. So if someone can explain what each of these options are and if I will need them, I would really appreciate it.

1. 3 channel = no traction control
4 channel = traction control
2. I upgraded for peace of mind = 10 year warranty on axles
3. I upgraded to 1350 yoke and my stock u-joint fit. Salesman told me 1310 is acutally smaller than stock.
4. The aluminum cover has studs that hold pressure on the bearing caps of your carrier, increasing the strengh. I also upgraded this on mine.
5,6,8,9. I used 3" exhaust clamps on mine and slotted the sway bar brackets. It's much cheaper.
7. Not needed if you upgrade to the 1350 yoke.

So, if I just want to order the axle so it can be simply bolted in, should I go with the 19mm sway bar or 21mm sway bar? I'm guessing that since I have an SS, I should go with the 21mm? Or does the 21mm only come with 1LE camaros? (I'm just curious here)

I'd consider the Moser 9 inch, since you are talking about adding spray to your car in the future. The Moser 9 inch also uses the factory style bolts for installing the torque arm, instead of the 4 small bolts that are required for the Moser 12 bolt.
Moser 9 inch with the Truetrak posi, your choice of gear ratio. ABS/TCS option. $2,400.00 shipped.
I would also recommend a new driveshaft once you're rady to use the nitrous. I sell the 3.5" aluminum PST driveshaft, which is rated at 1200 hp. It comes with the right U Joints to bolt right up to the larger 1350 yokes used on the Moser rear-ends. Bob

Okay, so tell me why the 9" is a better option. Do the factory style bolts ease installation of aftermarket torque arms? Or does it really matter? Is the 9" any tougher than the 12-bolt? What is the deal with the 4 small bolts that the moser comes with? Will this maket it harder to install an aftermarket torque arm? Thanks.

The 9" is a stronger rear than the 12 bolt, and I recommend it when someone is planning on using nitrous. The two long bolts that connect the torque arm on the Moser 9 inch will not work loose, as sometimes happens with the four short bolts the Moser 12 bolts use. Either Moser rear will work with any torque arm. Bob
