Default cam question

asking here because if I ask in general I'll get the search now lazy ****, which I have extensively.

What do you guys think of a Patriot 226 cam in a 3200 Stalled A4 car with Edledbrock headers, pulley, ported TB, 3:23 gears? I'm thinking it would be a nice street car then take it to the track and run 11's on a 100 shot fairly easy.

I have a crapload to get with 70k miles on the car so every little bit of money helps, I may even pull the heads and replace the lifters....and put them back on without doing anything!!!! That goes against everything I believe in, but I need to learn restraint

Damn you also know where a rear end is too!!!! Send me a PM on the heads if they have a nice valvetrain for decent price I maybe interested.

Honestly I like this car, I don't LOVE it, I really modded it for the wife and I'm not a huge vert fan although if you guys see it, it does look pretty nice. I'm trying to keep the total money out put relatively low. I'm going to be picking up a Trailblazer SS or a New Camaro when it comes out, maybe even a C6. When I sold the Z06 we made some other changes financially that it two years it won't be a problem to get one of those at all. So I really don't want to put 10K + into the Vert. I'd like to keep it around 5k which isn't really that much

So Ellis you didn't answer the question what do you think of that cam? Again not all out racecar answer, just modest performance goals, nice sounding and fun to drive?

So you did decide on the Edelbrocks then? I thought you were gonna go with the Pacesetter / TSP catted Y setup.??

That is similar to the setup I was running & Doug is running. (my Hot Cam, his TR 224 - I don't know this P 226, what's the lift & LSA?) Might wanna think more gear tho. We both hit 12.1 last year without juice, and the street manners were pretty good.

I looked at the catted Y it just sat too low I don't want to be scraping on everything. I REALLY like the Edledbrocks Y-pipe I think thats alot of header with the stepped design for my application, but with the converter I don't think low end torque is going to a real concern for me???

Plus the only neighbor that really complains about the noise of my cars is an Assmunch so I could care less!

The Patriot 226 is a 226/226 585/585 on a 112 and its only 280 shipped new. Sounds like it will run pretty smooth but have a nice "performance" idle I'm going to be doing an LS2 timing chain, LS6 oil pump and Patriot dual springs at the same time. If I ran 12.1's on that setup off the juice I would be very pleased. Heads and gear would put me into the 11's.

Remember I still need a Torque arm and a roll cage so this **** is adding up fast!!! Not too mention I pretty much need to figure on a tranny rebuild at any time....hopefully it will make it through this summer!

Sounds like it would be a nice Cam, For street and strip. I really like mine alot. TR 224/224 .581/.581 on a 114+4 LSA. Has a nice lope and decent power gain while still being very streetable.

I dunno Booby, verts are pretty heavy. You'll probably need gears to hit 12.1. For sure you could hit mid 12s with what you're listing.

I think you'll be really happy with the Edelbrocks. I think their Y pipe is one of the best design I've seen overall. Let me know when you get them, I'll help ya put them in.
