Default air lid

hey guys. have a 99 ss m6. i was wondering if spending the money on an air lid is really worth it? ive heard that the actual stock paper filter is no different from say a k&n or holley air filter. so would it be worth it to buy an air lid and also which one? ive heard good things about the whisper but dont know. thanx for the info guys.

The lid is 100% worth it. I have gone back from a lid to stock and you will definitely feel a difference. It may only be 5-10hp; but the engine revs a lot more freely with the lid.

You need a lid. Filter depends on if you want to wash filters or dispose of them,

just run the stock paper filter. I have run a holley one, and there was no difference.

Lid and filter make a difference (SLP lid, cold air intake+K/N). I was taught that the first mods to make on any car is to help it breath better. You can't run if you can't breath. Invest the money.

Get a lid... look in the parts sect. for a used one... you can find them pretty cheap sometimes.

I got a lid. I noticed a difference immediately. Its totally worth it for around 100 bucks. If you dont have Ram Air, do the free ram air mod. Its not as noticable but helps.

Get a lid and then use the stock paper filter with it. The SLP lid fits great.

A lid is a lid, they all give close to the same hp increase, so get whatever one you like/can afford
