what a bunch of tools. i love my car to death but i know when i lose its because i got beat by a faster car. thats not hard to understand. people have been running 12's in STOCK fbodys since they rolled off the showroom floors in 98'. what was ford doing then? just because they strapped a blower onto the car in 03 they think its gods car. i love the concept of it and i would kill for my car to sound the way they do but come on. compare apples to apples and u get the mach 1. that car is in no way a match for an ls1 stock for stock except for the few freak ones out there.

I dunno, that thread wasn't that bad. But there are alot of fanboys on BOTH sides, and its really getting old.

I honestly agree with the ford guys that chevy guys need to stop bitching about the 03/04 cobras haveing a S/C, for christ sake we have 1.1L of displacement on them. And who cares if the (fast) cobra came out a year after the F-body was killed? Does that mean that any newer car that beats us has an unfair advantage? No, suck it up.

On here though we don't make threads to just bash ford...every other site on the internet there are always threads aimed just at bashing camaros and ta's...that crap gets old and people can't seem to get over it and beat it to death.

The way I look at it you can't beat the ls1 f-body for the price my Formula $12,000 03 cobra $23,000+ But I have been told I am cheap. I just like to get the most for my money. I like the Cobra they are bad ass but the price was out of my range.

Most of them are just on a Power trip cause Chevy stoped making the camaro. Not to metion the Next year Ford Slaped a blower on their cobra. So most of them are in the Heat of the moment that their car is faster stock from Show ROOM FLOOR.It will be gone soon

I personally don't really care for the 03/04 cobras. But I'm also getting tired of the GM boys saying Ford took the easy way out and went with FI. But think about it the 4.6 4v is a perfect candidate for FI. Small displacement/bore and OHV's. And on the other hand you have 346 CI to 281ci. Yes we have 4 cams but the higher rpm range that comes with that isn't that much. LS1's tach out a what 6k, 6500? My cobra tachs out a 7100. That little difference in rpms isn't gonna make up the power difference that 65 cubes would do. I only wish Ford went with the N/A 5.4L 4v. But I'll still continue to mod my lil 281. -Mark

Actually, a week ago or so, I saw a black Z28 with no hood, T-tops off and the driver had the greasiest mullet in existance.

There was a guy I used to hang around with back in 2000/2001 that was the stereo typical mullet wearing, 80's loving, Miami Vice styling f-body owner. He even went so far as to cut a hole in his trans/am hood and put a fake blower scoop (think top fuel dragster) and he routed it to his maf with dryer vent tubing. And that's just the start. He had every sticker imaginable under his hood, multiple different colors of wire tubing (red, yellow, blue etc.) and painted a bunch of other stuff some funky green/blue color.

Sad thing was he thought his car looked good.

IMHO GM punked out with the 2002 Camaro. The 35th LE should have had more power and a better look. And the TA was ugly. All they did was add stickers. If you wanted to pay even more, you could have had SLP put on aftermarket parts on for you. GM did not give the Camaro/TA the graceful ending they deserved. :(

I give credit to Ford for finally stepping up. Actually we owe it to them for keeping the muscle car segment alive while Camaro was out of the game. They proved that there is a demand for V8 RWD cars in this tree huggin', echo friendly, fuel sipping, shoe box driving, green peace lovin' world we live in now.

sure the cobras are faster, i always wanted a cobra.

price of m formy with 24k miles= $12,900

price of an N/A cobra i looked at with 40k miles=$14,000

price of 03 cobra with 30k miles=$25k

sure the 03 cobra is the fastest, but i couldnt afford to ever mod it, and the only way to make an N/A cobra fast i to put a blower on it.

i liked the formula to because not everybody has a formy and i could afford to mod it, and the mods on LS1 cars actually make a nice improvement.

Very true... if ford didn't build the '05 mustang... and sell them like heroin at a methadone clinic... Chevy never would have gone ahead with the new camaro... I hate to say it, but it's the mustangs sucess that is keeping the camaro alive...

no kidding. the cobra is fast....leave it at that. we have a 1.1 displacement...they have 3 cams and 16 valves on us...and a blower, so what? a fast car is a fast car is a fast car is a fast car is a fast car is a....you get the idea. let it die. and whoever said mach's arent equal....i dont know what youre smoking. i raced a mach with a midpipe and cai...and whoever won was the person that got off the line...

i was referring to an N/A mustang, you put a set of cams in a modular mustang and you dont gain crap, ive had a subscription to MM&FF and i use to read all about them. yes the 03 cobras are the most impresive car ive seen anybody make, i have vids of guys making 600hp on stock internals with a KB on pump gas.

there was a cobra at a ford dealer for 30k with 396 miles on it but insurance was twice as much and i wouldnt be able to afford anything else because paymets would be almost 600 a month.

IMHO the only way to make a modular stang fast is to put a blower on it, bolt ons dont really make those cars move to much better.

i found my sept 03 issue where they put heads, cam, tb, and a bullit intake on a 4.6 SOHC stang and they gained only 43 whp peak and like 30 something torque. it had full exhaust prior to the mods and and after everything they made 243whp and 273 tq

thats why i decided to go over to the gm side because an f-body seemed to be a better choice for me, and now my mustang friends dont like me anymore

Its funny how dyno numbers dont matter either. And the mach has a weight advantage....yeah right. What is it...100 pounds...lol. My car is lighter than a mach anyway so I could care less. Oh and the gearing advantage....3.55's...lol

Has any mach 1 cars ever dynoed 320 to the wheels like many 01-02 cars have?

What is the highest confirmed stock dyno for a 5 speed mach 1? I bet it is not even close.

Most all I see dyno 260's to 280's....an average of at least 20 rwhp less than a strong ls1.

I dont agree with the drivers race argument. Maybe from a stop where driver error plays a factor. But the traps show the faster car. Anything can be called adrivers race to a certain extent.

My 98 car with 80k on the clock at the time, lid and flowmaster cat back...I put 2-3 lengths on a mach from 30-120. That doesnt represent all....but my car was faster....no doubt about that. I really dont see how a mach could pull on an 01-02 car. Maybe a tired 98-00....and that would be a battle.

Not to mention all the tests of the ls1 motors....they make over 400 horsepower with just headers, also with no accessories...but that is damn impressive.
I wish they would strap a mach 1 motor to a dyno right next to the ls1 with equal conditions so we could see the difference.

But the funny thing is....their are millions of americans that support the hell out of foreign cars and do nothing but go around and talk about how great and reliable they are, especially compared to american cars.

And you know what...even if that is true....I dont give a damn...im not gonna buy a foreign car. It might be a different story if they bought ours....but they sure as hell dont.

A LOT of those idiots buy the Hondas because of the whole HP/Liter thing, because they don't know anything about engines. If only the dumbasses could realize that the smaller an engine is, the higher it's RPM's are due to the small stroke and light pistons, therefore yielding more HP per size since HP is a function of TQ and RPM's.

I grew up with IROC-Z's and 5.0 Mustang's as my favorite cars. What made me become more of a Chevy fan was my best friend was a Mustang guy, and we were very competitive. Where I'm from, it's all friendly competition. Without competition, wouldn't it be kind of boring?

Yeah from the factory 03-04 cobra is better than an LS1-powered car. That doesn't mean an LS1 car couldn't be made just as powerful. I respect pretty much all mustangs. Fox-bodies, Mach 1's, 93 cobra, 96-98 cobra, 99 and 01 cobras, 05-06 Mustang GT's, and 03-04 Cobras are all fine cars. It's all about your personal preference. There's just something about driving an f-body that I just don't get out of driving a Mustang. It also has a lot to do with how you grew up. I grew up with my mom and dad both former Camaro owners, and when I was 5 years old my neighbor had a brand-new IROC-Z sitting outside and I just thought it was the sweetest thing.

Say...had that IROC-Z at my neighbors been a brand new Fox-body, I might be rolling around in a Mustang today. It's almost like you can't help but like one or the other more.
