Default Shift + Launch Points

Hello, I've just purchased a 95 lt1 TA and am wondering at what rpms the best launch point would be, and also at which rpms are the optimal shift points. Redline is 5700 i believe. This car is totally stock. Thanks from a newbie.

when mine was stock I shifted just @ redline, as I built it up I'd go up higher, highest was around 62-65 depending on how the car was running, clutch holding up, etc, but that was with a cam and all new valvetrain except heads.

With my tires, I can't launch any higher than 2k and I shift it at just a tick before 6k.

shifting at redline isnt always going to turn the best times at the track. it might seem like youre gaining something but from my exprience shifting a little lower may translate into trapping a higher speed and et. for example, if you shift at redline but then the rpms fall way off itll bog down some where as you can shift lower and rpms may not slip off as much and you can get through the gears a little quicker. some of this depends on what gears youre running out back too but play around a little and find out where youre making optimal power and youll be golden at the track.

go out on a back road and practice. Learn to shift where your car is constantly pulling, and never feels like your loosing momentum. Also, powershift, never let off the gas.
