Default What series carrier is my rearend?

Hey guys I'm getting ready to have some gears installed on my 98 camaro Z28. How do I tell which series carrier is in my rearend? Also I've seen that you can get regular or thick gears, whats the difference? I'm thinking of going with Motive. Anyone know a good website for basic specs on my car? Thanks

i think the sticky will give you the info you want....i think its a 3...hafta check the list....thick gears sound like they take more "abuse" obviousley....but youll probably have less space between them therefore maybe less teeth which could actually mean more wear....im no diff expert im just a submarine mechanic...could be different

if it an M6 then 3.42, auto could be 3.23 or 2.73...thick gears are 3 series gears used on 2 series carriers, if the gears werent thick then you need a spacer to run regular thin 3 series gears on a 2 series carrier
