How to tell if your tranny is going bad
I don't have any problems, but I was curious what kind of things I would notice if it started going bad. What are some things to look for, or how would it shift and drive?

Studdering under light acceleration.
Dont EVER EVER speed shift an Electronic Tranny, like the 4l60E.
It is not made for it, it is very bad, I dont care who tells you different.
Just put it down, the tranny will do the rest.
Some tranny's you can speed shift, like the 700R4.
NOT the 4L60E. Its a stupid and immature thing to do.
It is not any faster, as much as some idiots would like to tell you different.
The only excuse I will take is too impress some honey's in a car next to you by nicely placing it into D from OD to let the exhaust talk a little more.
Flush the tranny fluids and change tranny filter alteast every 10-20K.
Keeping the soft parts of a tranny in check helps extend the life of the hard parts.

I just had my 4L60E rebuilt a week ago ($1481 ) and mine was slipping really bad from 1st to 2nd and also if i punched it at about 60 or 70 mph and it dropped to 2nd it didnt wanna shift into 3rd but just hit the revlimiter til i let off the gas....that's the first thing that happened to mine. But on another note i do suggest a shift kit if you don't have one...they are very nice and not expensive at all

My V6 Camaro has been slipping for years on the 2-3 shift under hard acceleration. If I punch it too hard the rpms rise without the car going much faster. Once the rpms get high enough, something engages (not sure what) and it starts pulling the car again. Kind of annoying, but I'm not putting any money into my daily beater with 163k miles, and it hasn't gotten any worse over the last 6 years.

My tranny seems to have a bit of whine when the RPMs get up to about 4500-5800 RPMs and it only happens in first gear. Anyone know what it could be? Maybe time for a fluid change? It has been doing this for at least a year now.
