i have the ssra on my car, so i am going to have to mount the trans cooler "dope" style.

my question is what size cooler should i get. i know the 24 is better, obviously,
but will i have room for it ??

thanks

With my cooler mounted "Dope" style, and my new TCI Deep Pan, I have yet to see above 150* on my car. Before the pan, I hotlapped it at the track, and only saw 165*.

Here's some pics of mine.

just curious, how do you have the trans lines routed, do you have the radiator bypassed completely?
Cooler lines go from the factory cooler into the 24k, then back into the tranny.

That's how mine is mounted: I used existing holes for the air dam, pre-bent thick plate of steel to bolt the cooler down. It is solid with no vibrations. Before I used a mickey-mouse'd through the condenser zip tie-downs.

I linked this to the sticky and did a little clean-up.

Let's add a write up and more pictures if you have them.

Im gonna be adding a cooler with a 12" 1300cfm fan (off my 69') pretty soon, I figure 2 24k coolers and a fan will be plenty enough. Im probably gonna splice the fan into the engine coolant fan....that or do a switched 12v.

yeah the bottom passenger side of the radiator is the "IN" for the fluid and it exits out the driver side of the radiator

I just want to get this straight before I start to mount mine, and this is a good thread to bring back up to the top since I see the dope style questions from time to time.

I have a B&M 24k cooler, so I just need to bend the side with the inlet and outlet down so it is flush with the black plastic air dam, drill holes for the inlet and outlet to stick out through the other side, and bolt it down. Then it looks like you guys cut away some plastic from that access hole and used one of the brackets that came with the cooler to mount the one of the corners to.

In chrs1313's case it looks like the top right corner isn't bolted to anything. The part that connects to the front bumper just seemed really flimsy when I was underneath my car last night. But I'm assuming it must be strong enough when bolted down to support the cooler. Thats the only thing my dad and I were worried about when looking things over last night, was the stability of the corner that connected to the front bumper.

that corner connection isn't really needed if you use 4 bolts to hold it in place against the air dam it is very sturdy...

Yea I just got my 70264 and im looking to mount it dope style on my 99' Camaro.

What fittings will i need? will i use any of these brass fitings that came with the kit?

And also, does dope style get the most airflow?? or does mounting it on the radiator?
