HELP! Bellhousing stuck to motor! How do I remove?

Default HELP! Bellhousing stuck to motor! How do I remove?

I am in the middle of a clutch swap and I can not get the damn bellhousing off the motor. I already removed the trans and the 8 bolts holding the housing in and it still won't come out. I tried pulling and pushing, prying and pounding and it won't budge. Did the factory put sealer on it or something? I worked it for over an hour with almost no progress.

Pleas Help!

get a bigger hammer and a bigger pry bar they really stick on there there is an alignment pin halfway up the bell on both sides tap in the area might help jar it loose buy they all suck getting them apart

big ******* hammer(rubber) and hit where the stater goes into(little area by it) You wont hurt anything.

Damn. I don't have a rubber BFH. I do have towels and a regular hammer though. I will try that. How about trying to pry it? Will that crack it? It just seems so fragile and thin. I will dive into it soon and let you all know how it goes. These cars are funny. Seemingly simple tasks are a pain in the *** and seemingly difficult tasks are a breeze.

The reason why your bellhousing isn't coming off is due to the two dowel pins up top that are probably stuck. When you apply pressure with a pry bar, try to do it up top. If you see the bellhousing as a clock, the pins are at 10 and 2 oclock.

Just keep working at it and it'll come. Spray it all down with WD40, especially up top. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes, then give it another go.

Be patient with it... I spent three hours just trying to get a tranny up into the car last night; it was might stubborn.

I post this about once a month it seems.

Use a 2x4, place it wide ways where the starter was, and start beating on the 2x4. It will absorb the 'sharp pointy' bits of the hammer, but pass the blow to the aluminum.

You'll destroy the 2x4, but the bellhousing will be fine.

Beat the hell out of it.

I had the same problem a couple weecks back you could use WD-40 or liquid wrench there both the same and just keep spraying it every couple of minutes then after some cursing at it and beating up on it ill guaranty you it will come out.

I had the same problem.. LOL.. What I did was use a pry bar and try to pry both sides evenly.. Eventually it will come out.. I got one side started first then the pass side. The passenger side was really stuck in there What I did was put the Pry bar in the gap where the dowel pin is at from the bottom not the side and pryed up and push in at the sametime kept doing that and it pop right out..

The top right corner has a little pocket you can get somthing in. like a cats paw puller, 90* prybar. they get stuck on cars with miles.
