2002 Z28 shift kit?
I just did a shift kit in my truck and my brother-in-law wants to do the same in his Z28. I installed the transgo HD2, hardened seperator plate, aluminum 1st-2nd accumulator piston and the vette servo in mine. I'm not that familiar with f-bodys...but should he order the same? What servo is in the f-body tranny....does it need the same upgrade as mine did? Any tips, advice for ordering? What are the differences, if any, in the f-body valve body and the truck valve body?

Why would you want a shift kit? I don't think it would help for a DD car.

Now, is this something you can do with the tranny in the vehicle? I did mine without pulling the tranny, can it be done in the Z28...or does it have to come out?

Yes, it will make the shifts firmer but it will not help you in any performance application. You are just spending money to have your transmission wear out faster.
So, can this be done in the car?

wear out faster? how it pushing the clutch disc togeather faster going to wear them out faster? it actually helps them last longer since they dont slip nearly as much. the only things i can think of that will go out faster if he has enuff HP is the hard parts like tha planitary gear sets........ if im wrong someone let me know b/c i was also thinking about a shiftkit, from what ive seen from working on auto's their is really nuthing it can hurt.

exactly, it will be more likely to break something, but the clutch will not wear faster. its not really like their slamming them togeather harder, its just doing it quicker. the instant shock it what likes to break things.

So, back to my original question....
The tranny already has the vette servo, what about the other parts I mentioned? Is the 1st-2nd accumulator piston plastic like it was in my truck? I talked to my brother-in-law again today and he said he wanted to get the parts, but didn't want to do the install until he got a good stall converter. What's a good converter for a stock Z28? Do you guys run the trailblazer converter in there like we do in the trucks, does that make a good cost efficient, worthwhile converter upgrade like in our trucks? He's looked at the B&M converters and thought about the 2500 stall, any comments on this?

is he planning on a cam anytime soon? if so id wate to get a stall after that. but if not and he uses it as a daily driver id stick around a 2800 stall and would not go any bigger than a 3200 at the MOST.

he doesn't plan on changing the cam.
what about the accumulator piston and trailblazer stall?

im not really sure about the accumulator, i dont know if it is true or not but ive hurd different models come with different (plastic, metal) accumulators. as for the stall, i would personally stick with vig. or fuddle.

But I'm curious as to whether the TB stall will work in the f-body set up and if it will stall higher than the stock?
How do I know what accumulator piston his Z28 will have?
I'm not trying to be a smart *** here, although it sounds that way. I'm just looking for the answer to those 2 questions. Thanks

If I were you when doing the shift kit I would update all the accumulator pistons. Reason is that they do wear plastic or aluminum and while your there it's cheap security. As far as the tb convertor it will work however it will not be as strong as the vig, etc.These are MO's due to countless rebuilds. Good luck!
