Default Ticking noise from engine! Need HELP

A buddy of mine has an LT1 camaro and it started to make a very loud ticking/clicking noise from the motor. Only does it after not starting for 4 or more hours and after a little it goes away and once the car is warm then upon restart it no longer does it but I am leaning towards maybe rockers but am not sure what it could be. Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance

could be an exhaust leak, they are more noticeable when the car is cold. Next time, open the hood after you say you stop hearing the ticking and then rev the engine, you should here it get louder and you can follow the sound to where it is most of the time.

Exhaust leak or it could be a crack in your EGR tube.

What would cause a lifter to go bad or start making noise? I am new to this and I am trying to help diagnose it and have never seen this before. Any help is extremely appreciated.
