Default What would you do?

I just recently came in to some money and was thinking about doing some more work on my 99 SS. So my question is what would you guys do with $5000. I was thinking about getting a 408 or something like that but just don't know where to start.

Thanks for your input guys in advance

Well it would help to know what you've already done, but I'm going to assume your mostly stock.

I'd start with a good Head/Cam package, makeing sure you have all the boltons done already.

Then if your an A4 you'll need a stall.

Then I'd spray the bitch, nice 150 wet shot, with that you could put down close to 600hp. Thats more than enough to start breaking things.

My mod list consist of:

TR230 Cam
Most bolt ons
and a Fuddle 4000 stall

I was leaning towards going with a 408 or forging the motor. Just can't decide.

Well, if you are still running the 10bolt, get a 12bolt. Also, I would do a heads cam package.

Stronger rear. the sock one will break once you start making power. All it will take is a good hook up at the track and bam!!!!!!! Mosier makes a good 12 bolt.

My vote is for a good set of heads (mayve afr 205's) and then go with either a moser 12 bolt or a 9 inch rear. That should put you around 5K. You could froge your stock short block but id say sell your stock short block and just buy a new 346/347 block from one of the sponsors as you will recoupe a good amount of the cost from selling your stock short block. With the 408 you are def going to need new heads and with the cost of the forged 408 being around 4K by intself you looking at $1500+ for a decent set of ehads, plus a bigger cam for the 408, better fuel system, etc, etc and it will cost you well over 5K. Plus then your def on borrowed time with your stock 12-bolt and tranny.

12 bolt should be on whatever list you have if the money is going into your ride.

If this is 5k strictly for modding your car then definitely get a 12 bolt and not have to worry about it snapping somewhere down the road. Then go with a head/cam package or something along those lines. If this is just a lump sum of money, I'd probably invest some of it and get a 12bolt just to have peace of mind.

My car is not payed off but I did pay my car payment for a year. So I don't have to worry about payments for a while.
