Hi, I have been searching and not come to a confident solution. I need to order a DS but I do not know how long to make it. I do not have the rear yet nor do I have a slip yoke to measure the length even if I had a rear in the car. There has to be a length that everyone uses for this or maybe some guys can do me a favor and measure their set-up? I want to place the order this week so I can have it next week. Some say it is stock length and some say it needs to be slightly longer. Please indicate length in inches as I do not know stock length nor do I have a DS to measure as I sold mine.
Thanks in advance!

my inland empire ds from moser was about .5"-1" longer than the stock aluminum. You would be doing yourself a huge favor by waiting until the rear was in the car, at ride height with pinion angle set before ording a shaft. No reason to rush and end up with one that's too long or too short.
Stock length works. The rears in our cars are normally positioned approx .5" back, so if you have adjustable lower control arms, you can move it forward .5". Bob

Bob,
I am going to have LCA brackets welded in, so if those get welded in .5" back with a stock length DS I should be good to go? Also what is stock length? Mine is gone so I have no idea.

I used my stock DS with a new U joint. Works fine. It looks like it could be a little bit longer though.

You do not really have the option to move where the relocation brackets go as they surround or box in the existing LCA bracket. There is a little leeway but not much. FWIW the UMI relocation Brackets eliminated my terrible wheel hop with my MT DR's.

it depends on which rear yoke. stock ford = stock DS
i had to get 2.25 inches longer with the Moser aluminum yoke
My 9" has the 1350 yoke and I had a stock length steel DS made and it fit perfect.
