Default Car Insurance

Ok, I am tired of being raped each year for simple car insurance.

I am almost 37 (2 more months) have no accidents, no tickets, no DUI's, nothing bad at all yet I still pay way more then I should for someone in my shoes.

Any suggestions? I currently use Progressive (haters just hush please) and am looking at alternatives. I last looked several months ago and was shocked by some of the prices companies are asking. It isn't like I drive a friggin lambo or anything.

FYI, I pay about $834/6 months and that seems mighty high to me. Granted it is about $400 cheaper then when I was in L.A. but still seems damn high to me. Anyone? Also, I have 100/300 coverage with $500 deductibles if that helps/matters and it IS my DD.

TIA.

That does seem really high... I pay around $85 or so per month on my Camaro. But then again, I have multiple cars, I'm married, and I don't commute with it... all of those things gave me discounts with my insurance company (Pemco).

I paid around 630.00 for 6 months coverage on the Z28 when it was mobile. Got similar coverage as you cept' my deductibles were 250-comp and 500-collision. This is through State Farm but I've been a member with them for over 15 years, zero accidents and zero tickets (now lol). Love their service and claims are taken care of well.

FWIW, I've priced others and there are a few "no name" brand insurance companies that were cheaper, but I'd hate to find out about their customer service in a bad accident just to save a few bucks a year. ?

Yeah, I am not into the no-name cheapo insurance cuz if there is a claim and I get hosed, it won't be worth the savings. I have had 2 claims with Progressive & they were great both times.......I just wanna stop getting killed over freaking insurance.

Being single is a killer here but at my age and with my perfect record, that SHOULD count for something.

I will check out State Farm, I had them a while back and liked them.

I pay 100 less than you do per 6mo. And my record is spotty at best so yes, you are getting raped.

I use allstate. My coverages are at least 100/300 with a 500 deductable.

Word of advice from someone that has been throught the claim process lately, check the small print. Most insurance co's now have small print that says used parts instead of factory new are A-OK for replacement. What a load of ****** bullshit that is. I am going to ammend that part of my coverage asap.

lol ok I'll chime in... unfortunately my renewal was before my bday (25) and I'm not gonna switch companies with the PIP claim still open on my NAF accident. But at 24 with only 1 ticket on my record for full 25/50/25 + 500 Ded on C&C and UIM 25/50/25 I'm paying $1407/6mo just for the t/a... my full insurance bill (which my friend pays half of because they drive the other car that's under my name... long story) is $2614.00/6mo For the t/a and a 2004 Kia Optima. That's with progressive.

I use progressive. I'll switch to State Farm pretty soon though. Just waiting for a ticket to come off this summer. (wifes)

Comparing your ins to others is like comparing apples to snickers! There are som many variable it isn't even funny. Few things to consider: Credit, yes this is a BIG part of your rates. Location, if i live in a small town and you live in NYC guess who has the better rate based on this part? Driving record-no need to explain I hope? Age and marraige status also counter in, I could go on but no point. When shopping for a ins Co always check out ther AM Best rating, this will tell how strong they are. It's like school an a+ is the best!

I've been with American Family for years, they have been good in the few times I've needed a door unlocked or a windshield replaced. All of them are leeches on society but thats another conversation.

I pay 201 a month for all three cars and townhome insurance. Suprisingly when I had the vette it was cheaper!!! I've gotten some cheaper rates but all wanted to run my credit report which I will not agree with as long as I can. As far as I know American Family does not run mine but they may with some clause in small letters I signed at one point who knows. I bet if your new they would. Something else thats crazy they now base it on what level of education you have and what your job is, I truely hate the scumsuckers. That and they fact they lobbied to make it a LAW that I have to trust my seatbelt. Don't get me wrong I wear mine out of common sense but I shouldn't be forced to do it. OK I need to shut up.

On a side note when I was 23 I paid 256 a month for my 93 Z28!!

I pay $283 every 6 months for my 02 Z28.. 100/300 plus underinsured motorist..$250 deductible. I have 2 others cars on my policy, plus homeowner and I'm 39 with a clean record. I also live in lower cost insurance zip code. I use AIG. I was with Farmers for years and had a clean record, bought the Z28 and they wanted to raise my rates to over $1000 a year more, so I switched to AIG in 2002.

Check out Liberty Mutual, I pay $764 a year for the same coverage as you. I have both my kiids on my policy and have had a couple claims and they treated me right. My car is a 95, so you would pay a little more for sure, but they would be worth checking out.

Got a quote off their website (but would not give them my SSN for a credit check - just dont see the need when shopping around to give out my # 80 billion times) and they quoted me at

$2456/year

Thats what I'm hoping for as well. We've had our home owners thru them ever since we bought our house as well as a policy for my wifes ring. I had some issues 7 years ago so we couldnt actualy use them at the time. But now that things are cleared up and the tickets will be off this summer I think they are the best bet for the best rate combining home and auto.
