I just watched it, I must say I am impressed. I thought it was really good. What did everyone else think?

I just watched it also. I liked it a lot when it came out (still do). Saw it a few times in the theatre. I'm not impressed with the DVD authoring (single disc), though it is probably due to the length of the movie. I would have at least put the 2 "special features" in a sub-menu. It's a good transfer, though, and I bought it so I could watch the movie, not the special features. I would have liked a DTS-ES mix, but that may not have fit.

I am gonna watch it again tomorrow. This has to be one of the better DVDs to get IMO.

I thought it broke the "suspension of disbelief" and was just a little too far fetched. The effects were good, but there was just too much for it to remain credible.

Well I didn't see in the theatres but watched in on a 52" so that was good enough. I thought it was really good, the effects were tremendous and it seemed you were always on the edge of your seat.

I got that movie the other day, I think it kicks ass, they did really damn good with the CG because some movies look really crappy with CG. And they do have a special edition DVD with 2 discs and a bunch of special features

i dont know if i just need a hdtv now or what, but the effects didnt look all that clean compared to the theater. now it was still looking good and all but movies dont usually look this different from theater to tv in my eyes.

is it just me? i thought this movie sucked. and was way too long. the only cool part is when they first get to the island. and jack black is awesome. but by the time i realized and 2 hours into the movie that not only do they still have to capture king kong, they have to bring him back to NYC and he has to die. i wanted to shoot myself that movie was so long.

the majority of the movie drug on and on IMO. CGI was awesome, the T-Rex fight scenes and New York scenes were awesome though.
Overall I give it a 6 of 10

You mean like a 50 ft. gorilla?
Movie was good, but WAY too long in the beginning. It took a good hour just for them to get to the island. Jeez. Yeah, it was during the depression, we get it. Didn't need to harp on that for so long.

word.....the first hour was awfull, but as soon as the monkey showed up i was hooked.....i liked how the seventies version set up the beginning, and how they portrayed the islands natives and the "kong sacrifice" better...there was almost a sexual tension, as opposed to the new movie's demonic and freakish natives......and the first chase with the crew and the dinosaurs was silly.......but kong itself was awesome, the first fight with the t-rexes was off the charts, and the climax with the planes and the tower was incredible....

i liked that they gave King Kong a personality much like an animal. and didn't make it more like a Godzilla type of thing.
the sound on the dvd is a little weak for what i expected...
i thought it would have made a lot better surround sound experience than it did.
but over all it was a good flick

those giant bugs still freak me out. but ya the amazing effects carried that movie. if the effects werent so realistic it would have completely sucked a nut. 6.5/10

You could almost believe Kong could develop on an isolated island, the pushing it was the 6 foot bugs, the dinosaurs, and a screenwriter who suddenly becomes a super hero dodging dinosaurs, and the said headliner the 50 ft Gorilla.
The word that pretty well sums up the movie... Overkill.

I watched this movie last night. Yes it was far fetched, by it is not exactly a "real life" kinda deal. I wished they would have showed were in the hell they would have kept Kong on their way back to NY on the boat. I think he would have sunk that thing. My favorite part was when Kong takes off into the theater...that was badass.

It dragged on alot, in unnessary places.
But it had alot of good scenes in it, but some of the computer animation in select scenes was easily indentified.
I give it a strong 7 outta 10

You guys think the movie is long? Ha!!, if Universal gives Peter Jackson the ok, he will make an extended cut and add the commentary on there like he did with the LOTR trilogy.

And I thought the part where those slugs eating that dude was pretty creapy
The CG effects were pretty amazing, the best I'v seen in any movies so far.

That dude was Andy Serkis (Gollum) and Mocap for King Kong. ;)
