Tranny ECU
well my friend drove the Z yesterday and said its not slipping....the cpu is not tellin the tranny to shift fast enough of at all sometimes and my chevy dealer wants a $150 just to start with the basic look over so how do u guys think i can fix it or get around this problem?
btw the tranny won't shift into 2nd at normal speeds until like 3-4k and it bangs the rev limiter from a dig or any roll going into WOT....other then that 2-3 and 3-4 shifts are perfect.
please help if u can....thanx

Is this only at WOT? A Lid and headers when properly installed should not impact the ECU's shifting pattern at part throttle. You also do not have a stall. What did your friend base his conclusion on? Does he have scanning software? If your car is not shifting right at part throttle it is probably a mechanical issue.

If 4th gear is ok I would have to say that you have a tuning problem. This imo, to complete a 1-2 one of your two shift solenoids must release to apply the band. Then in 3rd the other solenoid turns off bringing on the 3-4 clutch. To complete the 3-4 shift the first solenoid that turned off must come back on. If the computer is telling the trans to do so and it's not happening it's a solenoid or band. If the computer is not commanding the trans to shift it's got to be a tuning issue. Have you changed the stall in this car. I have heard that with stalls if there on the high side tuning is a must. This might be your problem. Basically what I'm saying is you need to determine if its trans or computer. With a stall you might have to adjust your 1-2 shift timing.
