Yank SS3400 and 3.42's installed
When bought my Z28 it had 4.11's but was otherwise stock. The pinion was leaking like a sieve, and I didn't like 3000+ RPM on the highway, so I decided to go with a 3.42. I figured I would have to give up the nice jump off the line from the 4.11's to go to the 3.42.
I was wrong! With the Yank, the car flat out jumps out of the hole even better than before - traction is now the biggest problem (the car never used light them on the line like it does now). And the torque is unreal. From a roll, the RPM's jump instantly to the flash point. Around town, it feels just like a stocker - starts catching around 1500. After one tank, my mileage is only about .5 mpg less too (based on less than one tank, though, so I may not have lost anything). The only difference I have noticed at all from stock is that it doesn't roll off the line from a stop as hard. But that is nothing compared to how great it drives now. Track times April 29.
Thanks Yank for a great product.
