98 ws6
i am looking at a 98 ws6 with 17k miles and it is 14995. Is this a decent price for a 98? Also, i have heard some bad things about 98s and was wondering was the truth is about their "problems" .

Since you are looking at a car very similar to the one I bought, I will give you some information on my purchase. I paid $13900 for my signature car with 18k miles. This was a July 2005, private sale in Michigan. I think the price was fair. The owner believed the car to be "mint". In my opinion, it was not. There were a few stone chips in the front bumper cover; a couple of hairline cracks in body panels; a small amount of road rash in the front bumper cover, only visible from beneath; minor damage to the driver rocker, only visible from beneath; inconsequential, yet deep scratches on the underbody from a singular incident; light swirls in the clear, though these are not very visible on white cars; a very shallow, hardly noticeable in-ding on one of the quarters; lots of tar and other debris on the clear; and the wheels were only ~90%. Also, it had minor bodywork after being struck with by shingle, so he said. I would say the wheels were 90% because the clear had lost its shine in a few areas. The hairline cracks in the body panels are tiny, and only visible from less than a foot or two away. I have probably painted a bleak picture. Most people who see my car think it is new, though. I am just that particular. After thorough detailing before storage, I think I brought the interior up to 9 or 10 (of 10). I thought the exterior looked amazing after giving it the Zaino treatment (clay bar and polish).
I personally have no concerns about mine being a ‘98. This ’98 issue has been thoroughly discussed. Try the search engine. I hope this helps.

I looked at an ’01 SS in MI ~June of ’05. It had 33k miles. The only SLP options were 10-spoke chrome wheels and missing floor mats. The wheel chrome had begun flaking. The hood needed to be repainted because clear was bubbling. The rotors were warped and rear tires needed replacement. The rest of the car, including mechanical, was in very good shape. It sold for $16k right after I looked at it. It sounds like you have found a winner.

ya know im not positive what the build number is but i have seen the window sticker and the slp papers so i know its real. Ill let you know the build number once i go back to give the guy the rest of his money on tuesday. The guy selling the ss said he would call me so that we could make plans to meet up and make the exchange and then he called and said he sold the car....***. But im picking this firehawk up for 16,000 so i am pretty excited about that.

I was curious about the build # because I wanted to see if the car was one I had inquired about or looked at last year. Actually, there was a specific car I had in mind. Where is it located? PM me the details if you feel the need to protect your sale from other possible buyers.
