Default Exhaust about 80% complete on Vette!

I finally got started and most of the way finished with the one thing I hate more than welding roll bars in Jimbob's car... Exhaust!

I pulled out my left over recycled box of 3 inch mandrel bends and went to work. so far I've only bought one new item... six feet of 5 inch exhaust tubing. I picked that up down at Kitsap Muffler and Brake. I was able to get them to squash it in the bender ram down to a oval shape that would easily fit under the car. It came out as basically 6 inch wide by 3 inch tall oval shape. It got tweaked a bit during the process... but the exhaust gasses will never notice.

I fabbed up a new "Y-pipe" replacement that is dual 3 inch pipes going into this monster 6 inch x 3 inch intermediate pipe. It runs clear back to the rear differential and then will mate to two Edelbrock RPM mufflers (3 inch in and out). Two 45 degree bends and a short straight pipe will connect each muffler to the intermediate pipe.

Pics are here...

I'm very happy with this overall. It fits better than the true dual 3 inch pipes I had on the old 1985 Vette. Now I need to order my ball flanges to connect to the exhaust manifolds and finish up the front part. I also need to hang and connect the mufflers. In this exhaust build up... the middle was the place to start!

Boeing surplus has 5" titanium thin-wall tubing for about $20/lb.
