Default Oil Pressure Problem

I have a buddy with a 95Z28 that is having a few problems. He just had a forged 355 put in it about 2 months ago, it came with a high volume oil pump but everytime he would get on the gas the pressure would steady get lower all the way to redline. During normal driving it would be fine, somewher around 40-45psi, but it would drop as low as 20 at WOT.

So he took it back to the builder and they decided to replace the pump, this didn't fix anything. So he decided he is just gonna buy a stocker pump with a spring, this seemed to make it hold more pressure at idle and normal driving, but at WOT it would still drop.

Next thing he tried was the sending unit, well he just called me to tell me that made it even worse all around.

Does anybody have a clue what could be causing this? He has plans to spray this motor but can't really do it untill this is sorted out, thanks guys.

Here is his basic set-up- 95 Z28, Forged 355, big cam, all the bolt ons, built auto, 3200 stall.

im going to put in a windage tray and baffle..

lol also when i changed out the sending unit, i bent some of the pins for the plug . So im returning it and getting my money back. Cause i think the problem is no windage tray or baffle in there.

Go to Camaroz28.com and do a search, lots have the problem. My 94 does it on the original 121,000 mile motor. They say it won't hurt it, I really don't know. The other thing is I have a buddy and his has done for 4 years 50,000 miles with on ill effects.

Sounds like there may be intenal damage to the motor for the oil pressure to go down on exceleration. If you put a high volume pump on a stock pan you may have run the oil pump dry. If you pull the motor to do a pump check a few main/rod bearings.

the motor was built 1400 miles ago.

The engine is ok, i know that.

Ive replaced the HF with a stock m55 and pickup. But the thing is there was no windage tray from teh start.

Im getting a moroso windage tray and baffle for my stock pan. Bolts right up.

Ive replaced the oil pump assembly shaft also (which was broken)
