Default Spec clutch???

I just got through takin the clutch out of my 01 SS with that (Gm you suck) bell housing that was stuck on the dial pins! anyway i took my stock cluth out and my flywheel had some hot spots on it so im definetely gonna get it resurfaced.(is it worth it or do i need spec flywheel?) My ultimate question is that the Spec clutch come with clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing and pilot bearing. the normal stuff but it also come with an extra plate its metal with a hole in the center and it has square notches paralell from it other on the sides What is this plate for and do i need it??????? Thanks fellas

Yes, you can get the flywheel resurfaced. The Spec instructions tell you how much can safely be removed (think it was 0.013 inch). The other plate you describe is the spacer that goes behind the slave cylinder. You need it.

i would just buy the spec flywheel, the tranny is out, and replace the slave while your at it, if some goes wrong just think got do it all over again, because of some thing so simple......(slave). its out change it...

I would first let a shop check the Spec stuff first: my NEW clutch assembly needed to be resurfaced AND balanced.
Of course Spec claimed installation mistakes... yeah!
