Default Anyone have trouble opening electric hatch?

75% of the times I've tried to open the hatch hitting the yellow release button it pops, but is still latched. If I pull upwards and keep hitting the keyfob release I can get it.

This has been reduced now to about 25% of the time after spraying WD40 into the mechanism in the trunk but want to know if there's anything else an unskilled person like myself can do to fix this problem.

A better title would be "is anyone NOT having trouble opening the hatch"

I raised my adjusters on the camaro and it helped out a little.

There's a fix somewhere out there, I forget the site, where you add an extra spring to the latch mechanism, I'll post it if I can find it.

Yeah, I used that exact spring, and it's no better than it was before. My hatch sucks.

Stupid Hatches....During the warmer months mine usually pops fine but the colder months take a couple pops. I've just come to deal with it.

I did the spring mod and it worked great for awhile. Problem is the extra tension eventually bent up the latch mechanism. I need to use my remote and pull up on it to get it to open now.

Well then take off the original go to the parts place, and match the tension with another spring just something of the equal tension, or just slightly under tensioned just for added support for the other spring(Factory)

I put a similar sized but much stronger spring on mine and when It was completed the hatch damn near jumped off the car. Go to a hardware store like home depot or similar with the spring and find one that is a higher tension.

That's exactly what mine did at first. Worked great.

Thats whta happened to me, and I took it to the dealer and had them replace th elatch under warranty. Th enew one with the original spring worked fine for a while, and now it is doing the same thing. I will just deal with it now, as I am out of warranty, lol.
