Default Unleashing Trapped HP

ELlis got started on my y-pipe last night. Not only will his design give me a full inch more ground clearance, I think it may actually give the car more power (even more than we expected). See below....the other one was bad too, but not THIS bad.

Good gravy, what a bottle neck that must have been. I predict 10's easy next time you go to the track.

Please don't tell me that is considered a High-Performance cat! I guess it'll be considered that after being beat by a stick....

Yes, that was a Hi Perf Random Tech Cat....key word WAS! And I as recall they are rated at 700hp. I certainly turned into a nice plug. Not sure what that cost me, but it seems like it would be at least 20hp. And no Eric, there will be no cats on the new y-pipe. Which probably means I will have to build a new one with cats next year to pass inspection. But this year it's all about running a 10.

Pass inspection? They just plug in and read your codes... and we all know that's been taken care of. You can roll in there, make the people's eyes water and ears ring with exhaust noise, and they'll just plug in, and say... "you passed".

Tight....Hooters girl....oxymoron?

We got the car finished last night. I forgot to take pics of the y-pipe installaed, but I took one while it was sitting on Don's floor. I'll try to get one in a bit. It fits better (no more banging), is quieter (especially at idle) and it feels stronger (a combo of the stuff we did I'm sure).

As for the tranny, it did have a few metals pieces in the filter. Nothing major considering the year of Hell it's been thru, but we will be rebuilding it later afer I talk to Yank about a revision. All I need now is my drivehaft & I'm ready to rock & roll....

Ellis hacked up my existing y-pipe, added a section of 3.5" flat pipe, put it all back together in a different order & except for one small bend piece that hangs lower than we wanted, it fits perfect - better than any y-pipe I've seen. Except Ellis's that is....

Would be really interesting to see how that translates on the dyno.

Yes it would....and if a certain slacker, low-life Mustang owner would get his a$$ back to work I could find out!
