Default Want a full function computer in your car??

Well I'm almost finished with my first CarPC install. When I'm finished I will be working with Magnolia Audio/Video to possibly set up a relationship for me to build and help install these systems in high end cars. This should be a sweet setup as it will have touchscreen, navigation, Wi-Fi access, XM, Windows XP and all benefits of a PC. This is in a 05 Saab 92X (WRX wagon) and I'll have some pics shortly.

I plan on running a 2 screen set up in the Chevelle. 1 for constant engine monitoring and the other for all my audio/video/nav stuff.

Heres what I'm installing in the Saab:

7" Touchscreen High Res VGA widescreen monitor
1.3 Processor
512MB 400DDR RAM
40GB HD
DVD/CDRW
Windows XP
Navigation
Sirius radio

Whole system is at about $1250. Not bad considering all it can do! I'll get pics up soon!

How much is the touchscreen? I resell computer parts, and have been playing with the possibility of buying one of these small computers, about 7"x10"x2.5" which are about $250.

I am guessing you are using a P-M processor?

My buddy did one of those (in L.A.) in his '02 Z28. Was awesome. Could watch DVDs, listen to XM, surf the net.........I was impressed. Yours looks good too.

The computer that I mentioned is pretty much a basic computer, capable of playing videos, DVDs, music, navigation, etc. Probably wouldn't do very good trying to play Battlefield 2 or anything haha. I can get more specs if anybody wants to know.

We need pictures!

This is a shot of my buddy's touch screen/setup when he was doing the install. It was pretty when it was all done.

11secproject, is that similar to what you are doing/looking into?

I may be very interested in working a deal with ya about one of these when all the bugs are worked out.

Yea thats basically it. There are so many options to go with. I can do a molded in screen that is large like that, a 7" widescreen in stock radio location, or a single din flip out 7" widescreen. Its all about what you want/need. Also you can do just a basic case or I found a place that does plexicases for showing off. I'm having fun with it!

I am really interested...I was gonna have that guy do one for me but he was full time at college and in a frat & working a business and then I moved 1200 miles away....made it difficult to get together to work on it.

So I guess a thread about heads/cam for an LS1 would be so 9 or 10 years ago since that motor came out in late '96 (in the '97 Vette's)
