Default Torque management

My car needs tuned bad. Just put in 224 cam, stall, shift kit, and gears. Would the torque management screw up the effects of the shift kit and stall? I drove it tonite and it didnt shift hard at all. It was low on tranny fluid, at least a qaurt, but didnt shift nice at all. Everything just felt pretty sloppy. I am planning on killing the torque management when tuned. Just wondering if everything is ok with tranny and stall for now, if it is normal that the torque management would pull so much timing that it would act like I had no shift kit........

TM won't cause sloppy shifts, it will cause the car to completly fall on its face when shifting. Some people compain about the way a converter makes the shifts feel kind of soft. TM is normaly only an issue on '01 and '02 cars.

the shift kit won't cause it, but i wouldn't be too suprised if the converter was making the shifts feel soft. what shift kit did you kit?

2 washers......After doing some reading and searching I am thinking its just all related to needing a tune. The combination of convertor/shift kit/torque management is not good without a tune.

add the third washer. stall verters tend to soften tranny shifts. torque management may be an issue, but it is not your main problem. torque management is more of an engine function. what you described is more line pressure related. a tune can increase line pressure, which will also help the shift quality, but once again, that will be more a function of how the PCM controls the transmission outputs, not torque management.

It would also help to have the trans fully filled with fluid. I know my car when the trans got around a quart low the shifts weird. That could be your only problem right there.

The converter is "bungy" enough that it'll soak up a lot
of the shift firmness. TM pulls a lot of timing but that
will be felt as the car "cutting out" for half a second.
If you leave the shift adaptation settings intact (aka
shift speed) the PCM will learn out / against some of
any pressure increase from the kit. Zeroing the time
and tuning in the pressures will give you a stable, hand
fitted shift firmness w/ load profile.

you could always crank on the torx bit on the pressure modulator. that will increase line pressure.
