Default Lets see your LT1 intake!!!

Just curious as to what colors people have painted theirs, and how creative some of you have gotten.

I will be polishing mine over the weekend hopefully.

Good luck polishing it. I was considering doing this but after talking to a bunch of professional polishers they tell me it is very difficult and messy to do because of the high sulfur content in the aluminum in our intakes. I am just getting mine powder coated and it'll be done!

I'm just gonna warn you up front so you won't be too disappointed later on: I'm in the process of polishing mine now, and the casting quality of these manifolds is TERRIBLE. There are air bubbles all through it, and when you sand the rough cast down, it leaves a "Swiss Cheese" appearance. If you sand more thinking you'll sand them out and get back down to clean metal again, you end up uncovering more. To be honest, I'm kind've regretful about putting in all that effort to have it come out the way it has, and not being able to do anything about it. It won't look too bad from 3 feet away, but if you're a perfectionist like me, knowing that the pinholes are there is gonna drive you up a freakin' wall.

I'm thinking about just biting the bullet and paying to have it chromed.

Yes it is dirty and yes the nose is a couple colors due to a deer at 40mph , but check out the intake in front of the TB.

If you had a b-body you wouls have SEVERAL choices of intake like this. Works with the stock hood too.

Yeah, I've heard that before as well. Wish I knew this before I bought my polishing kit from Eastwood.

Im still playing with the idea of painting it red, but I dont want it to be an eye sore. Polished would great if the aluminum was actually good to polish to begin with. I guess Ill just use that kit to polish up my TTII's.

Oh well. Post up some pics of painted intakes so I can get a good idea of what they look like. I am split between painting it red, silver, or black. My car is black. I was thinking red to match the Delteq coils Im going to paint red.

Depending on how impatient I get with waiting on a chrome job to come to fruition, this is the stuff I was considering as a Plan B:

This is what you start off with for a base

And with tinted clearcoat, you can get this

Or this

It's called "MetaLust" http://www.motostorm.com/gpage1.html

An 8oz. bottle would be enough to get it done with paint to spare.

They probably do, but I am not sure if they have setups to accomodate Cruise control or Traction control.
btw, my 86 Trans Am with that LT1 had 93 Trans Am pedals in it with a 96 T56.
