93 Z28 Header Options with S/C
I am tearing a 93 Z28 6-speed car apart to get it ready to be dyno'd on a GM dyno Weekend event. I read other posts on Headers but didnt see anything about with Superchargers. Here are the parts I am installing, 255 LPH In tank pump, Venom 36 lb Injectors, Upgrading the S/C to a 9 PSI unit, and a Snow Performance Methanol Injection System. I already have Flowmaster Exhaust System and BBK Shorties w/ matching y-pipe. My question is Should I switch over to a long tube style Header? I do have to pass Emissions so I need to keep my Cat in place. I have a random Tech High flow cat. I also might lower the car 1"-2" or whatever the smallest amout of drop is sold. If lowering cant be done for best performance then ill leave it stock height. This car ran 13.70 Bone Stock and 13.30 with the Exhaust & Headers and CAI. Thoughts?

Does anyone think I should go with a 6 PSI pulley instead of the 9PSI one? Can a stock LT1 handle 9 lbs of boost with proper tuning? I have a 3.12 on it now, I have the 2.93 and 2.70, but Im debating which to use.

a stock LT1 can handle 9PSI but the question is how long, the most you'd want is 6~7 if its a built LT1 yeah it can handle more then that but the safe bet on a stocker is 6~7

I wouldnt run long tubes if you plan on lowering the car - due to potential ground clearance issues.
Technically it's illegal to move the cat, but you can run cats with long tubes. I ran Hooker LTs with dual car sound cats (true dual exhaust) on my 93 for years. It's not a setup your going to find on the shelf somewhere, but it is doable. Mine were welded in just after the header flanges - I had to clearance the drivers side floor a little to tuck everything tight, but I was running full size 3" cats. Smaller 2-1/2" and 3" cats are available though. With my setup, I passed dyno emissions year after year - after telling the inspectors that yes, I was running cats, none of them ever bothered looking under my car. I doubt most of the techs knew the stock cat number or location anyway - all they really care about was me passing the sniffer anyway... Really, how many cops could even tell you the stock cat number or location on 93s???
