Mines not a 383 but for the same money you can have a 395". from what I have seen the 395" make a little more torque than the 382". Mine made 470 rwtq. and 489 rwhp.

395 is the Biggest you can get with a LS1 block without resleeving. I have had mine for a couple years and going good. Texas Speed built mine and did a very nice job. You can resleeve the LS1 block but it is costly.

I missread your post you cannot have a stroker and a stock crank. I think they can regrind the crank and you would have an offset grind stroker but I wouldnt want one.

395 is what I have and I love it. I have no regretes with this set-up. With 12.1 comp. you will have to run race gas sll the time. I have 11.1 and that is perfect.

I think this depends on the characterisics of the cam which will ultimately affect dynamic compression. So you can run 12:1 static compression with a properly matched cam running pump gas.

the 6.0 has a 4 " bore verses the 3.898 but they have the same stroke, the bore is where the extra cubes come from.

just spend the extra $1000 on a NEW 6.0 LS2 and build a LS2 402ci

or $600 on a NEW iron 6.0L bored .030 over, pushing displacement out to 408ci.

TSP is offering these starting around $3600.00.

although i didnt go with them, i picked up a LS block for $800.00 and got a local machine shop to cut me a deal that was competitive to TSP and SDPC, using a forged eagle 4' crank, forged eagle H bean rods, diamond pistons w/valve relief, nitrous rings, ARP main bolts. everything balanced and blueprinted. my cylinders were bored .005 over, making displacement technically 403ci. plus they let me pay what i could to get started and pay the balance once it was done. reusing my LS6 heads with a port and polish job stock valve sizes 308-314cfm@.600 lift. .608/.612 248/254 112 cam, im expecting 500-525ish, 470-480tq to the wheels on 11:1 compression. it should be done around 5/20/06.

now since ill have a LS6 block left over, probably going to take it to a 395ci and have it put in my girls '02 SS so she can kick some *** too.
