Default Comp cam to small or to big?

The guy I talked to said that the 07-466-8 cam would work the best for a bolt on lt1 w/6-seed tranny. It seems a little low to me though the specs are 218intake 224 exhaust and 570intake and 565 exhaust w/1.6rr. This seems like an LT4 hotcam with more valve lift on the exhaust and intake but the duration is the same as the LT4 hotcam and it scares me to think the cam maybe to small. Don;t want it to be done twice. He said the cc305 wouldn't give me as much power as this cam. The duration is 220intake and 230exhaust and I'm not sure on the valve lift. So what do you guys think?

218in @ .050
224ex @ .050
495 in lift w/1.5
503 ex lift w/1.5
112 LSA

Sounds like the same Cam i have and it produces good power and it sounds good. I use 1.6 RR's though. Maybe go a little more aggresive for more power. Is this your daily driver?

Oh yes and i have a 96 LT1 Ws6 with a M6 as well!

It is my daily driver and the valve lift is 570intake and 565exhasut w/1.6rr
and w/1.5rr 535intake and 531exhaust. Is this to much valve lift. I don't want a valve smacking a piston.

you wont have any trouble with piston to valve clearance with that cam and a set of 1.6 rr's.

Do you think that that is to much valve lift though?

As long as you do the usual required valvetrain upgrades for higher lift that will work just fine.

Sounds like a pretty mean cam w/ that lift. I've run a older 350 w/ a cam w/ those duration figures (although much less lift, older comp cam non-roller design) and it idled and drove great. I think w/ the new XFI cams w/ their extremely aggressive ramp rates (hence the damn high lift figures w/ low duration) require some pretty mean springs, they probably recommend their beehive springs (918s aren't they?). They're kinda costly, but supposedly awesome, just something else to keep in mind, don't want to skimp on the springs w/ that cam.

I would actually question if you need this cam and if it would really be worth it over a cc305 or similar w/ the stock heads though. THe extra lift will only benefit you if the heads actually flow more at those lifts, stock heads about peak out at .500 do they not? If that is the case you would benefit more from more duration than you would lifting the valves open further but w/ less duration by my thinking... Never heard of a dyno especially on stock heads that compared the cc305 and this cam though.

Well I am getting the cam and their k-kit ( beehives, keepers, retainers, lifters) and then chromoly tappered push rods with .080 wall thickness, 1.6rr and lunati timing chain. I'm not sure on the heads but the guy at comp cams said this would make the most power for me.
