Default wideband?. clueless

Im a noob to Nitrous and as it says i have the TNT F1 kit for the LS1 and i cant afford to blow up my motor, i have never sprayed because of the fact that im afraid to blow up my motor. i have an M6. I just purchased the MSD window switch, and im looking for GOOD and reliabe safety switches, so far what ive been reading is a nitrous activation switch, A/F nitrous shutdown switch, and the window switch. Ive been reading about wideband being more accurate and safer, but have no clue what that means or is. can somebody please help me pick a respectable system with those safety switches. i know theres sytems out there with the window switch built into the WOT switch, id be willing to just sell the MSD if its going to make it easyier. right now i have money to spend and i just want a nice, reliable setup that has been proven to work. thanks

I am finishing my install. I have a NX single nozzle wet kit. I too was very concerned about having an incident and damaging the motor. I went with a fuel pressure safety switch and a 2 channel FJO wideband. It has a built in window switch and a built in TPS switch so you do not hane to buy them seprate. You can program it to shut the system down if it gets too rich or too lean. I did a lot of reading and research and decided FJO sems to make what I believe to be the best unit out there. It is not cheap but when you consider it has the window switch & TPS (WOT) switch it is not as expensive as it seems. It monitors the AFR 200 times a second. If it saves me just one time it will pay for it's self many times over. ( It will also data log etc.)

Also Gerald at FJO provides great tech support. He really knows his stuff. They do not sell direct so you will have to buy from a dealer. You can check their website at www.fjoracing.com

There are narrow band AFR shutdown units out ther for much less $$. But they are not as accurate. They rely on the stock 02 sensors that are designed to keep the AFR at 14.7-1 for good economy. This is much leaner than you run when on nitrous.

Make sure you have colder plugs properly gapped. And don't spray with the traction control on. Get it on a dyno to see if all is ok.

you really dont need a wideband to run nitrous safely. In order to be safe if the shot is 150 or under you will need:
1. WOT switch
2. Window Switch
3. Colder plugs (NGK TR6's gapped around .035-.038)
4. Upgraded fuel pump
5. Fuel pressure safety switch.
With all of these you will be nice and safe and wont have to worry about blowing up as long as you are correctly jetted and have the bottle PSI(1050) and the proper pressure and the window switch set at a good range(around 2800-6000 Rpms is ok.) I have all of these except the FPSS. Ive sprayed plenty of nitrous with no worries at all.

The wideband unit is always a great thing to have though, i have one and I love it. Mine is not in anyway connected to my nitrous system, i just use it for AFR readout and logging.

150 is completely safe as long as you use it properly. If you have the money then yeah get a wideband, they are good to have.

I tuned my run at about 13 AFR all acroos the rpm range. With that setting i get from 11.1 to like high 12 AFR while on the spray, it is nice and safe. If you want to be extra safe get a tune.

if you run a 150 you will be well into the 11's with a good tire and good driver.

remember that you can start out small to get the hang of it and to get comfortable with using nitrous. Then once you are used to it you can go and up the shot. I started with a 75 shot to make sure it all worked ok and for me to get used to it. It didnt take long for me to go up to a 150 and I will tell you that a 150 shot hits a lot harder than a 75. Nitrous is addicting I am probably gonna try a 175 then a 200 soon.

Im glad you asked this here is your response: NO, NO, and NO. NEVER, NEVER use platinum plugs or plugs with the stock heat range with nitrous unless you wish to buy a new engine very soon. You want to use a copper plug that is in a colder heat range. NGK TR6's are the most common nitrous plugs for LSX engines. Gap them around .035-.038.
