Too late to switch to synthetic? or back to regular?

Too late to switch to synthetic? or back to regular? Howdy! I am about to get an LS1 M6 and I was curious as to whether it is ever too late to switch to Synthetic Mobil 1 or Royal Purple? The car i buy will prolly have around 50k miles hopefully and I was wanting to drop RP into the T-56 right away to gain a couple extra ponies to the wheels and maybe some Mobil 1 or RP into the engine right away too. Will this hurt anything? Whats the latest you can switch? Can you switch back to mineral oil from synthetic?
