Default Welding plates on SLP headers

I have a set of used SLP LT headers I got from Katech. They are a little rough-a few scratches on them-from bottoming out.

My question is this: Would it be wise to weld a couple small metal plates on the bottom of the headers to protect them if I ground out? I'm at stock ride height but I've heard horror stories and I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I would think so...I am trying to think of a reason why not, but that sounds fine to me.

Should be fine, I've seen a few headers with (for lack of a better term) skid plates

Sounds like a good idea. One more good scrape and those headers might develop a hole. I know they didn't leak when you got them, so a skid plate to prevent further scrapes probably isnt such a bad idea.
