Default HELP QUICKLY PLEASE! car on side of road

MOD PLEASE MOVE THIS TO INTERNAL ENGINE

Man guys, I could seriously just cry.

I just finished up a heads and cam install on my '98. PP 58cc heads and 231/237 TSP cam.

Car ran fine yesterday for 20 minutes or so.

On the way to the muffler shop it started detonating really bad, I pulled over and parked, tried to reflash the VCM with the tune and pulled 20% of the timing. It starts up for a second and then starts detonating really bad a maxes out the KR gauge (HPT).

please help guys, I'll be searching meanwhile.

Have oil pressure?? I highly doubt its a tune issue. Somethings broke. Sounds like you lost oil psi and it causes knocking.

I agree...it's most likely not the tune. Suggest towing it home and digging back into it.

man guys, I starting to get that 'Lithium' feeling.

I noticed my pcv breather hose was off... I put it back on to no avail. I just took the throttle body off today to drill it to help the idle. Must have forgotten to put it back on

what happens when a knock sensor goes bad?

also the car is running open header right now.

Question

Can you hear any audible knock or metal crashing?

after a couple seconds it sounds like really bad detonation.

also there was a small puddle of coolant under the passenger side of the car near the back of the motor. (Noticed after tow, could be related to the back head plug for the coolant crossover. I'll have to tear it apart tomorrow.

The loud noise sounds like a very retarded engine...that exhaust note if you know what I mean. It's very weird.

anybody have any ideas?? the knock sensor wires looked pretty smushed...is that a possibility?

Kinda hard to call from your description. If it is a loud metal on metal knocking sound its major. When my car goes into reduced power mode it also sounds like *** and wont get above 2000 rpms and will barely move. But it doesnt make any kind of loud sounds its more quiet then when running right. Good luck man let us know what you find.

Hope nothing was left near the heads that may have fallen through a valve into the cylinder....

Are you sure you got the timing marks lined back up on the crank and cam sprockets?

hey guys, theres an update in the internal engine section.

long story short : I didn't get the rockers tight enough and two exhaust rockers backed off to the point of staying closed. This was causing the pinging. Torqued the rockers down to spec like I should have the first time and she ran great. Only problem is that I now have a coolant leak. I'm not sure if I chunked a head gasket or if that plug opposite the coolant sensor is leaking. More to come this weekend!

thanks for the support guys, Nick
