Default Intake Air Box

Okay I got a 96 T/A with the K&N intake that goes down into the driver side corner. Also the guy who owned it before me cut out the plastic on the bottom and put one of thos sheetmetal scoops on the bottom.

I have an Suncoast WS6 style hood on it along with 98 fenders and bumper so it looks like a 98+. Currently with that whole in the bottom and F-ing Oklahoma raining every 3 days and snow the next, that air filter gets nasty QUICK. Pretty much ruins a K&N between changes, its so nasty I"ve tried to clean and re-charge but its just too nasty. So am wanting to go to an intake that will use the ram air of the hood. My problem is that I don't really want to buy the Suncoast box for $250.00. I would like to hook up some other sort of intake. I have noticed some people running stainless tubes to cone filters or something right up there. Does anyone know of something I can buy pre-maid like that? I thought about getting a stock ram-air intake from a ls1 but the throttle body is oval shaped on the LT1 so I would need a circle to Oval hose.. Every seen one?

Sorry for the long post, Hope someone can help.

Best idea I came up with. I saw some pics in some other threads of the standard ram air box and it looks like it will work great. I'm going to try to go to a junkyard tomorrow and see if I can pick one of those up.

look at this thread https://ls1tech.com/forums/lt1-lt4-modifications/487169-lt1-bellows.html

basically you go to Lowes or Home Depot go into the Plumbing section buy a 3"X3" and viola instant MAF sensor to TB adapter hose.

Yep I used that fernco hose and used my stock intake of my 98 ls1 with slp lid and put it on the lt1... Night and Day difference between the K&N CAI. Mainly because the filter gets nasty with the whole in the bottom of the box for the "free ram air mod thing" That the guy before me put on it. Once I get the standard LT1 ram air box I will put it on istead though if I can get one at a decent price.
