Default Help with inspection...

My girlfriend has a 2004 Dodge Neon and the inspection is out, but the check engine light has been on for some time now. I don't know if it is a random code or if there is a problem that needs to be fixed. The car runs fine, but it won't pass with the light on. Can anyone help? Know anywhere I can take it?
Thanks.

You can try to uplug the battery and the PCM fuse in the engine bay and wait a few minutes. That will clear it unless the problem is still there, it might take awhile to throw it again.
But I'll ask around later on today.

Peace,
Craig.

Find out what the code is fix it then inspect it. once you clear the code with a scanner it has to see a problem twice in the sytem to throw a check engine light. But you cant just clear the code its still gonna show up on there machine if the problem is still there. Find out what code it is and fix it.

I think if it is a random code, it will clear and then it has to be driven for at least 50 miles to be ready for the inspection. At least that is what I have learned. Also, Autozone said they can check the code, but they cannot clear it! So I'm doing the battery and see if it stays out for 50 miles and then get it inspected.

From what I understood from the inspector of my car, if it has 3 or more "NOT READY" codes during the inspection, then it will fail. It was a re-inspection, so this may only be true in that case.

I have one of those scanners that they use at Autozone, and you would be welcome to use it and clear the code if you like. If so, send me a PM.
