I have a Hooker long tubes with y-pipe and Corsa Cat back with no cats. I am thinking of going with True duals. Would I see any performance gains? Also how badass do they sound?

My exhuast sound has been described as NASCAR-ish with the cam so how much louder a true dual setup would be does not bother me.

I've heard several exhausts on ls1's and my opinion is that duals sound better than any ypipe setup. I love my duals and will never go back to a ypipe setup.

How much does a good setup usually run?
What about installation. Did either one of you do it yourself? If so how long did it take you?

i did my set up, put it all together on the ground and run the clamps down just tight enough to hold the pipes and get a buddy to hold the back dumps up or put them on a cinder block with your back wheels up on ramps and connect them to the headers and hang them in the back, then bring your car down and lift up on the duals in all the clamp spots and clamp them down tight with the jack under them... i love my duals ill never go back to y-pipe it sounds like ***, the duals sound like 1969 all over again

Duals sound better than any y pipe setup IMO. There is a shop near me that will fab a stainless x pipe set up for like $500. TPS has a very popular setup too that goes for $410.

Friend of mine just picked up a whooping 2 rwhp with some duals over an ORY. But it sounds a hell of alot better.

But they flow better so any future mods to give more hp will be served better. Just depends on how much hp you want to put down.

i got my tru duals installed with mufflers for $250 he mad all pipes and everythig.i chose to go with 2.5 inch pipes with a muffler called VFORCE they sound so good their is no catback that i have heard that compares i dont care if i lost 2 or 3 rwhp or gaind the sound is worht it.like said before reminds you of the 1960s muscle cars DO THIS MOD YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT

Duals > Y-Pipe IMO.

I love mine and would recommend them to anyone. If you have a good exhaust shop you can have them fabricated for you exactly how you want, or you can buy the tubing and build the system yourself if you have the tools. I just bought the kit from TSP ran it for a year, then had a shop run it out the back.

+'s : Sound, power (if only a bit over a GOOD y-pipe), COST (have to buy a good y-pipe AND a good catback remember? ), and the looks.

-'s : Ground clearance, uhhh... hmm...

I did my duals myself. My entire exhaust including headers cost me just under $700, but my mufflers were $150 so I could have done it for ~$550. Any competent shop would probably charge $500 or less for a dumped system, minus mufflers.

I was thinking about doing true duals but had a question. I know they sound really good and they're pretty loud but the thing is i will be taking road trips and dont want the loud sound driving 80 down the interstate. Will it have a loud roar when im cruising or will it just be loud driving around town? And the setup i was thinking about was LT's to either X or H pipe then true duals. And Ive heard that the H pipe had the deeper sound and thats what i want. Would it make a difference between the 2 with true duals? Thanks

Alot of people like the way true duals sound. but i think they sound a little too high pitched when your on it. Kind of like an F1 indy racer.
Now if your looking for an exhaust with 60's mucsle car ***** to the wall sound, then do my set up. A bullet on each header. NOTHING sounds better at idle and when you stomp the loud pedal.

My friend dynoed his car back to back first with 3" x pipe duals and then with just bullets on the headers and gained 7-10 rwph. Plus he lost some weight ditching all those pipes.

I heard TSP's the other week in person and sounded awesome, much better than any Y set up I have ever heard and I have heard most of them. Duals are my next mod.
