Default 93 lt1 a4 problems help!!!!!

im buying a car from my buddies dad that has sat since last july or so...

replaced the starter the other day
replaced fuel filter today
the first time it ran after about a minute it sputtered and stalled
after sitting for an hour or so it started back up again and ran for 5 minutes
started up ran for about 5-8 minutes smoothly then decided to go down the road and stalled about a mile down the road.
towed home then started when it reached the driveway.
fired up sat there ran for about 10-12 minutes then it sputtered and stalled again

looks like there is small abouts of water in the gas, doesn't seem like near enough to cause this

any ideas????

the 93's had the 700r4's / 4l60 - (not 4l60e) if im not mistaken. / seems like the fuel pump / regulator? - take it to autozone or a dealer with a scanner and have them run it through there diagnostic and see if any codes pop up - its obdI not obdII also

Water in the fuel?? how did that happen and how did you find it?
does this happen at any rpm or just in low rpms?
when it happens does the car idle irratically then die or just die?

If the answers are it only happens at low rpms and it get irratic right before it dies then I would look at the IAC... a good cleaning of the IAC can clear up ALOT of stuttering and dieing issues.

Then start at the obviouse.
Run that tank dry and fill with good gas...

I would still clean the IAC if you have never done it before.

One last note, water in your fuel can foul you plugs... as sudgested before check them out as well...

and i am asking this for my brother has always had ls1's but this car has special meaning to him and he really wants to get this car fixed so he can buy it because the guy won't let it go until its right, just the way he is and help would be greatly appreciated becuase car has centamental value, his friend has passed away and his dad will only let the car go to a good friend.

The IAC (idle air controler) regulates your cars idle and low rpm operation, if it gets even alittle grimey it will cause the car to idle rough, sputter at times and finally not hold its idle and die...
it is located right under the TB and cleans very easy with alittle isopropanol, take 15-20 mins tops... Make sure it is good and dry before you put it back in..

Best of luck getting her right

I am a buddy of Bandit's brother ( the one actually buying the car), and since the week or so of running like crap it seems to be doing alot better now. There still is a minor problem though which is a slight hesitation during hard acceleration from a stop. Also when crusing down the road at a steady speed the check engine light will come on and then go off again. What are the two terminals that you jump to get the Check Engine light to flash so that we can find out the code. Also is there a list of the codes on here somewhere. Already tried searching but could not find anything. Thanks.
