Default converter: how big?

I want to go to a bigger converter, but I知 not sure how big. I am running a 3200 yank right now, but it is not performing well anymore, and I知 thinking it is too small for my big cam. I'm building the car to be street/strip. How big of a stall should I get, and what kind of converter? Car info is in sig and mpg is not a concern.

it bogs, it locks up at the wrong time, shifting is erratic. it痴 just not reliable; one day it痴 ok the next it痴 not, and i know what you're thinking ,"It's Not Tuned", but this car has been tuned several times with this converter and it's just not a good combo.

What are the specs on the comp cam "BIG" you have? I think 4000 would be a happy medium-Fuddle has them pretty inexpensively.

If its 240+ I would go a 4000 stall. Around a F13 or 230 3600. Anything less then a 3200. TOrque converters take well to a properly setup trans. The issues you are describing sound like problems with the tranny tune. No converter will take those problems away - just make them worse.

I just installed a 3800 Fuddle Converter on my car and Love it! The thing hits hard as hell. I ran a PI 3600 converter a while back and this converter feels like it hits much harder than that. I am betting on High 1.5s low 1.6 60' times at full weight. I went with the 2.3 str. You should call Fuddle and see what they have... Just my .02 The cost is great and I have heard no complaints or problems with their converters.

Good Luck.

Bill

No problems AT ALL! It feels a little sloppy when you first drive it but you get used to it.
My car gets a little loud in parking lots, cause i basically have open headers and a spool so if i turn the wheel all the way and try to move it kind of sounds like i'm stalling it up. but thats cause of the spool.
