My first bracket race report for '06: Open Comp results
Well, maybe I'll have better luck footbraking this weekend!
I'm still not totally consistent with the transbrake yet, but 2 time runs provided lights of .020 and .019 on a 5-tenths pro tree, so I was feeling good.
I get the bye 1st round, and missed the tree bad and went .071, so thank god I got a freebie!
2nd round I get a 4-speed Maverick with a 10.56 index, so I'm leaving first with my 11.49 index. -.004 red then to add insult to injury, 11.490 on my 11.49 index, while he is .226 light and 2 tenths over.
Oh well, had fun, car was launching hard again, and even tried out the M/T drag radials again and pulled a 1.546 60 foot footbraking her.
Hope everyone had a good easter weekend!
Derek

Sounds like you are on your game Derek. T'Brake racing takes some getting used to, but once you do, ohhhh man!
The closeness of the races is so exciting, especially quarter mile racing. I have only bracket raced on the 1/4 a couple of times, but man it was so much more fun that 1/8th. One thing I have seen is really good 1/8th mile racers seem to be excellent on the 1/4. I think it is because they have so much more time to think and react than they have on the 1/8th.
Anyway, enough rambling from me, best of luck.

Thanks for all the comments!
Dave,
Wishful thinking, but I like your style! Hope your new combo is coming together well, any #s yet?
Taco,
Yep, I believe 1/8 mile can be closer than 1/4 at times, as I've done enough of both, but still prefer the entire ride versus the half-track shut-down (I'm just clicking 3rd gear around 600 feet). Hope your season goes well!

You going to make the next NMCA race in Bowling Green in a few weeks? We'll be down there for that one.....although my motor probably still won't be done.
I always have had trouble slowing my R/T's on a .500 Pro tree using a 'brake. I'm always .010 or less in the red. If I wait, I'm late and if I stab it I'm usually red. I almost wish they'd change O/C to .400 Pro.......I'd be much better off.
VERY frustrating running dead on with a 0 or 2 after barely going red.......been there, done that many times unfortunately.

Nope, unfortunately I don't think I'll be making any NMCA races this year. Wish I could as I had a blast at the 2 I visited last year, but they fall opposite points weekend here at Gainesville. Maybe next year I'll run a few.
I see the only problem with O/C going 4 tenths is unless you have a quick leaving 10 second or faster car to cut a good light it won't get the car count it has now. Not everyone can deep stage in time on an autostart tree.
