Default Sidways in third gear... stock?!

Me and a friend of mine went for a ride in a 2002 black ws6 t/a M6 with 75,000 miles the other day. it was $17,999. anyways the dealer tok us for a ride and...wow. he pulled out on the highway, and once we were going strait he punched it. this car roasted 1st, 2nd, and went *** sideways in third gear. I can honestly say this is the most ridiculous car ive ever been in. The dealer claims that it is all stock except for a k&n and a tune. Can this be true? Im new to the ls1 world this is why i ask. Also, my friend has a 98 M6 SS and even he said that this ws6 would make his car look like it was standing still. What do u guys think?

Hmm... I think it's entirely possible for it to be stock, but just from this information, I wouldn't make any bets either way.

lack of traction is not a vaild measurement of power.

if i wanted to go thru the effort, i could make a kia spin the tires.. lol.

in anycase, yes, they are about the quickest stock car the avg person can buy. however, you shouldnt be spinning in 3rd unless the tires suck, or the rear LCA angle is off from lowering.(easy fix)

How were the tires and had it rained recently? I was on the highway awhile back ago and had Corvette messing with me so I downshifted from 6th to 4th and got completely sideways and saw my eyes flash before my eyes It had rained the night before but there was no water sitting and it looked dry but the street tires didnt like it too well...but depending on the tires it is more than possible imo.

the tires were in pretty good shape. i didnt look at brand, but they probably had 75% tread left. When i mean sideways in third im not talking about a chirp and little wobble. im talking out of control, if there were a car in the left lane beside us would have hit it, kind of sideways. The check engine light was not on either. Me and my friend had debated if it could have had gears or not, but fom around 60 he put it in second and had time to pull yet, so i figure steeper gears would not have allowed that. no rain recently at all either.

What tires were on it? I used to be able to roast the Walmart special tires in my 5.0 for miles when it was mostly stock.

You said he roasted 1st and 2nd, doesn't that make burning out easier, what I mean is if he started out casually in first and then same through second and then when shifting into third normally released the clutch and then gunned it, it probably would not have spun I downshifted into 3rd once in my gto and broke loose, but I couldn't do that while upshifting, it's just the combination of shifting fast while spinning and dumping the clutch yeah and/or shitty tires like everyone else says.

You should ask for the price of the car to come down alittle seeing that the sales man is beating the **** out of the car on test drives.

Depends on the pavement too. Certain streets I don't get any traction. I've also got 3.73's so that makes it more difficult to hook.

Umm...I don't know about anyone else out there...but usually people don't get a tune on a stock car and don't tune for a K&N filter. How does the dealer know it has a "tune". Sounds BSish to me. I say it is modded!

My friend has a tune on his stock car, he added a lid and cut out and it did 330/350 so there is good reason to tune a stock LS1. I think that the salesman needs to be fired, and that car needs better tires. I'm assuming all 3 of you were in the car (salesmen, you and your buddy) if he roasted em through 1st and 2nd then he could spin them going into 3rd as well, its not hard, I did a burn out through 5th in my friends V6 camaro, you can do that with any car, how fast were you going when you shifted into 3rd? Even with 100% tread sucky tires, well.. suck.

Depends on the street. There is a concrete, uphill onramp near my house that I can roast the tires all the way through 1st, 2nd, and into 3rd gear. Getting on the highway at 90mph sliding sideways definetly enlivens the morning commute.

The guy could drive and he pinned the throttle and stabbed the clutch...not hard. A lot of drifters do it to initiate a slide.

oh, damn, well he still coulda done it, lmao. I jsut dont see a 300rwhp car doing that. My 5.0 is close to 300 rwhp and hangs pretty solid with LS1 cars. I definitely cannot go sideways hitting third. I get a small squeek.

That guy shouldnt be driving. People miss third alot, but they do it mostly IN THEIR OWN CAR, not one they are trying to sell.
