Any jet ski guys here?
A few years ago I rode a friend's jet ski for a few minutes and knew that I had to get one someday. I ended up ordering two 160hp Yamahas. One of them is an FX HO Cruiser. The other pretty much looks the same but it's the 50th Anniversary edition (blue). The regular FX Cruiser came in last week so I did some riding in the Westport River on Saturday. It was supposed to be about 70 degrees but the fog didn't break up until late so it was only 52 down there and the water was about 45. The wet suit helped but it was still f'n cold at speed (buuurrrrr!). I think I'll stick with inland water until it warms up by the coast.
Fun machine to ride and you know they have mods available!

Yup i got an 03 GP1300R last spring and i love it. Its pretty much the same 03-06. The 05/06's hacve 5 hp more and no power valves. Out of all of them I like the white/blue/orange scheme. 2 seater 165hp. The only drawback to the 2 seater is they are banned in alot of places.

I had a pretty nasty spill on a jetski last year, fucked up my back (not enough to do any real damage, but I racked up a bill at the chiropractors (sp?).
Just a reminder to everyone to be carefull out there this summer, because I can tell you that hitting the water at over 20mph hurts like a mother-f*cker!
Oh yeah, and I lost my sunglasses

Noyzee: For some reason your the first person that I'd think of having one
I was only out for about 90 minutes on Sat and took it easy for some of the break in. It is very stable. I felt like I was just along for the ride.
Over the years I've got the feeling that alot of people don't like people on jet skis. I'll make a wake if I'm on my boat and see them riding around. This way they have something to jump. Only issue I've had was trying to pull up to a dock when someone was playing around right next to it. No common sence there! What's up with them being banned in some areas?
Hopefully the only time I go in the water is if I want to. I've heard that falling off can hurt so I don't plan on doing that. Plus I'll always have a life jacket on. This way you don't have to hear about me on the 11 o'clock news

My uncle had an Ultra 150 with some mods, and whew!
Ive been driving skie's all my life, and im pretty damn good on the Stand Up's.
Im trying to pull off a 360 this summer. Im gonna video tape it everytime I try so when I do pull it off I got proof.
Stand-Ups are sick.
Although a little more tiring, they are 3 times as fun as sitdowns, and I've got that Yamaha goin over 60mph.
Which is quick on a stand up.
I can actually ride on fora period of 2 hours w/o getting tired now, if drovin correctly.

i heard those raiders were pretty brutal to ride. One guy used to call it the leg breaker. I was thinking of getting an 1100 and building it up. That woulda been fun.

I'm all about Jet Skis. My '00 Sea Doo XP was supposed to be built by this summer. But instead, I put it back together stock. I bought an '06 GSXR 1000 instead.
Next summer, it should be done however. Lots of chrome, painted gloss black over the factory black gelcoat. Getting rid of all the yellow, and doing House of Kolor "Blue Blood Red," and finishing off the factory silver with a new silver metallic. Then a nice Jet Trim red/black/silver XPL seat to match
As for the motor, it's a 951cc 2 stroke. So I'm going to run the Rossier Big Bore 1200CC kit, with a new crank, pistons, etc. Buckshot carbs, billet BB Rossier head, their dry pipe (possibly the Coffman), and a few other goodies.
I've even thought about replacing the factory gauges with Autometers, or Livorsi/Gaffrig gauges. Not sure how doable it is yet, but I'm definately looking into this when the time comes.
I'll do a new pump as well, then I suppose it's time for trying impellers.
It's my favorite ski out of the many I've ridden. Very motorcycle like, just as they advertised it. It's a wet ride, but it's fast, jumps better than any other sit down, and is pretty damn light.
I wouldn't mind a nice Yami/Sea Doo 3 seater, but I'm the only one who rides it. Usually I can fit a cute chick on the back of the XP with no problems. Just have to make sure there are no big waves or shes done for

I did alot of research before going these and found that Yamaha rated pretty high. I'm planning on taking a trip out of CT to NYC somtime this summer. That should be a run ride.
I've found that there is no sales tax if you register the ski in RI. This can be done if your going to be using it in that state alot. Yeah, I think I will be

I have been racing them for the past 5 years. I have a Polaris Pro 785. Talk about a rush! Think of it as your Camaro on the water. Everytime I let someone ride it I tell them to hang on tight or they are going swimming. (Funny how quickly people start to listen after they go flying off)
Tom- I don't know how close you are to Sea Side Heights, but the first race of the year in this region is the weekend of May 20-21.
