Times slow for the car...Tips?
Ok...this has been buggin the hell out of me My friend Bill's car as the mods as follows:
'00 T/A WS6 M6 ATI 7-9#'s (474rwhp 428rwtq)
Moser 12 Bolt 4.10's Spohn T/A
M/T et's 26in. on a 15 weld drag lights
Stock weight basically
I'll get more info off the slip...can't remember it all, here is some.
60ft 1.628
1/4 11.77
mph 119.2
I figured this car was at least 11.5 capable
Will shifting faster improve his times...he's cautious of the trans so no power shifts or side stepping.
It's depressing
He does have a little issue getting it into second?!
Should he worry about the trans with this setup?
The rev limit is 6600...but stock gauge stops at 6000...crap GM Cluster

It would be nice to have a decent tach, but he doesn't want to drill the dash...we were thinking of a LED shift light that's adjustable in increments taht mounts in the defrost vent.

I have the stock tranny in mine and I sidestep the clutch on launch from about 4000 rpms with ET Streets! Tell him to work on shifting because that sounds like the majority of his problems. With a modified/blown car you have to shift slightly earlier if you are using the stock tach because it is slow like most have said and with 4.10's I am sure that it is really hard to gauge. I have 3.73's and I usually shift at 6200 or so in 1st and 2nd because I use the stock tach as well. My rev limiter is set to 6600 rpms also. The more times he takes it down the track he will get better as long as he gets more aggressive with his shifting.

I am NA, 410 to the ground pulling a 1.8 60 on 245 Nittos and running the same times. He should run way better could definatley be shifting at the wrong time. Shift light is suppose to help a lot. I got one after my last visit to the track and haven't been back yet to see if it helps.
