Would many of you be interested in Gen-III (aka LSX) swap kits for 88-2000 pickups and utilities?
I have about 1000 miles on my converted 93 running a 4.8L and 4l60E. It's a 2WD, and I have most everything worked out on it.
I started using a version of some existing motor mount adapter brackets, but was not happy with what other mods I had to do to make them work. I had to slot the bolt holes, the holes did not line up perfectly, and the motor ended up 2.5" too far forward. So, I CAD designed my motor brackets, and they work with the original V8 motor mounts. The "production" ones would be laser cut and jig-welded.
I also made up an adapter harness to make installing the engine harness a 100% plug and play operation. I used the underhood fusebox from the 2001 Suburban harness donor, but since you only use a few relays and about 8 fueses out of the whole thing, I am probably going to make up my own fuse /relay panel.
Fuel lines are all figured out, induction system is in the works.
I have a y-pipe in the works, and also am looking for a 4WD truck to try the conversion on as well. A setup for 73-87 trucks is in the works too.
I am an automotive engineer by day, and this is my 4th hybrid swap, the last one was an LT4 in a Porsche 944.
Anybody interested?
