Default REAL tough time selecting my camshaft

6.0l punched .010"
6.200" rods
diamond forged (coated) pistons -23cc dish
probably afr 225's with 65cc chambers
stock stroke
netting around 8.8:1 cr
victor or sheetmetal intake
single big turbo setup
goal is 700-800hp
will be running BS3

this is all going in my 67 firebird. looking for something that i can tune to maintain some driveability. limiter will be set no higher than 7000rpm. I am having an extremely tough time selecting my camshaft. i have read about guys having success with several cams, and others saying negative things about the same ones. Guess im looking for a little insight. I have searched alot (planning this for over a year ). Guidance is appreciated......

id look for something in the 22X/22X range for the hp goals youre trying to get, youve got good flowing heads so lift in the 59X/60X range, for streetability an LSA in the 114-116 range.JMO though

Unhappy Cams Cams Cams

Welcome to my world , I have been searching for a cam for a long time, But I came to this conclusion. There is no such thing as a turbo cam, there are to many types of set ups and differnt tunes ect, Most guys say go with a baby cam ie zo6 or stay with the stock one, There have been guys on this board the made stupid power with a stock cam,I think 700hp not sure what psi he ran pretty sure it was high. Me personaly I want the best of both worlds a (lumpy cammed car sound) and still make high hp. In my opinion guys with 6.0l blocks and more cubes need more duration to fill the chambers more without an high amount of boost lsa shouldnot go below 114, because of the duration, bleed off will be kept in check. Me im going with a cam from EEP check out there website Or give Bob a holler.

the specs are on the sight i just cant remeber them
clik on the project cars check out the tt vett

If you call up a long time FI player, like Kurt from W2W or Jim from Speed Inc., the first question they might ask if how fast do you want to go, and what are you going to do with the car.

Down around the fourth question, after say turbo size, the issue of backpressure might come up.

Now folks like Brian @ Precision Turbo generally prefer that folks stay at or below 1.5:1 backpressure. So if they have seen, or think your proposed combo might exceed that backpressure, they might be influnced on the cam they will suggest. This is the biggest reason you might see some cam folks advocate low exhaust duration.

for a stock 5.7, a 220/225ish would be great for a FI motor, but with the larger engine (And your hp goals), id go a little bigger. something like 230/235

I went with lingenfelter gt7. If its good enough for their cars its good enough for mine.
Its just a custom ground comp cam..specs are on lingenfelter site.
I figure lingenfelter knows a thing or two about turbo cars.

IMO the sheetmetal intakes are a bad decision for the money... you still have the same problem of unequal air distribution... use a single plane intake.
