Default 4l60e to a 700r in a 94 4x4 ?

I have a 94 chevy 4x4 with a 4l60e in it. It has been rebuilt 4 times now at 3 different shops. The truck has 280,000 on it . The trans just keeps going out and at around $1100 a pop its getting old. I have a couple of 700r's here that are out of older 4x4s. How much trouble would it be to put one of them in it ? Thanks for the help. Keith

Not much, '93-'94 was a changeover year from the 700R4 to the 4L60E so the tv cable mounts and stud are there for the throttle.
It would be ideal to find out why your transmissions keep failing. MAybe tall tires and stock gears?

Default tires

The truck has stock gears in it. The tires are pretty much stock. The truck has had a pretty easy life. What would I do about the plug in? Thanks again. Keith

I'd see why the 4l60E keeps failing because the 700R4 isn't much different.

What plug in are you talking about? The one on the 700 is for the torque converter lock up, you can get a kit to make it lock up right after the shift into fourth, you'd only need to supply 12 volts to the plug (or you can rewire it through the pressure switch for free).

The plug that came off the 4L60E is going to give you trouble codes and turn the check engine light on, since it's going to have no place to plug into and the pcm does circuit checks, etc, etc.
It would be easier to figure out why the transmission keep failing, a 700R4 might not be the answer to that.
