Default What's the difference between the LS1 & LS6 clutch

Does anyone know the difference between the Ls1 clutch which comes in F-body's and the LS6 clutch which comes in Vette's. Clamping pressure?

I dont know about that, i was having a hard time figuring that out because I heard my car already had an LS6 clutch from the factory. I went to the dealer and asked them what the part number was for a clutch kit for my car, they said it was GM P/N: 12581650 (which is a stock LS1 clutch kit, which is still available) and the LS6 clutch that I put in over the weekend is P/N: 12570806 thus I believe there is a difference.....

My car is an 02 and when I asked the parts manager which clutch came in my car he looked up my VIN # and told me the clutch kit for my car is 12581650 which is the LS1 clutch.

Some people have told me what you are saying that my car came with the LS6 clutch, however I believe that may be false informantion according to the part number that the manager looked up on the computer.

I was just trying to do my research before I spent money replacing the clutch believing that it was an upgrade if it was not, ya know... If you can show me information supporting the fact that my car 2002 Z28 did come with an LS6 clutch from the factory and not just hearsay I would like to see it so I can return to the dealer with an honest gripe....

Default from the parts counter

the part number 650 is listed as an 01 oem ls1 clutch for camaro in the parts counter computer cuz i looked at it and asked the guy if it was an LS6 clutch and well got the deer in the headlights look

just buy the 806 part number its just a few bucks more. and its for the Z06 vette and i guarantee thats not in your camaro or mine stock.
Im getting the 806 to put in mine shortly cuz i didnt like smoking 10 feet of clutch instead of 10 feet of rubber

I just did a clutch in my car this weekend. I ended up going with the LS6 clutch kit. The only difference was the pressure plate. It does have better clamping forces, you can tell that just by looking at the fingers between the 2, and the part #'s were different. It feels a hell of alot better driving it also

Our 02 had the LS6 clutch in it already. I double checked the part #s on all the parts when they came out.
