I found this Formula. I like the color, it's a little uncommon around here, and it's not too far away, but the reason why I ask is this: It is 124,00 miles old, and does not have leather, nor the Monsoon system. So... is it worth it to go for a Formula with that many miles for $10,000? I know to get it checked out, especially with that many miles, but was wondering if it would be even worth it to buy an LS1 car with 124,000 already on the clock.

The value of the car in excellent condition, per Kelly Blue Book, is $5,999. Considering that, I wouldn't offer him anymore than $6500 for it.

You should be able to find a Formula or T/A with less than 80K miles for about 10K, there are a bunch of them in my area.

In fact, my friend is selling a 98 Camaro Z28, 6-speed LS1, for 10K. Its like brand new, only 29K miles on it, he only takes it out on the weekends. Garage kept as well. Color is Mystic Teal, which is pretty nice.

Yeah, I guess the central Florida market for Firebirds is starved, lol. The only ones I see are very pricey.

Those are some crazy prices, I just picked up a 98 T/A WS6 with 80K miles on it for $11.5K.

Nice color, for a comparison I picked up my BGM 98 Z28 with 80K miles on it for $8k.

Yeah, I found a '98 Trans Am for about $10,900, it's got about 96,000 miles on it, which is also high, and it's got some shoddy leather in it... I think I'm going to skip that one. It's a fully-loaded one, though, so if I can talk him down far enough, I might like it.

just keep in mind that the higher the miles, the harder it will be to get a loan(if you need one) and also the sooner it will be that you will have to spend extra $ on maintenance items instaed of hop-ups!

I've been talking to the dealer, and I might be able to talk him down to about $8K (KBB values it at about $8,500 for excellent) so I'm a little reluctant to go for it, unless it's in really fantastic condition, or something.

It looks really clean, and I'm a fan of the color, but with 124K miles, I'm not too sure how it is mechanically. It's had 3 owners.

I might drive up there to see it, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Hey the one thing I do know is I have seen some guys with LS1 formulas putting down some crazy numbers on the track. I dont know if it is because they are lighter or what.

But if I had to do it all over I would bet a formula just my preference.

I know this is old now, but I found a Trans Am. Either it was restored, or this guy babied the crap out of it. It has a little over 100K on the odometer, but the pictures show a car with perfect paint, the interior doesn't look worn at all, etc. I haven't driven it, yet, but would $8000 be acceptable? I can trade in my Ranger and end up probably financing the $5000 rest on the Trans Am off (which is half of what I'm financing now). The bank has no qualms with approving me for a loan. They love me, and the lady who works there said she's never seen a guy my age with as good credit. (I think she said it was like 720?)

I've kind of taken a break from looking for cars for a while, because my dad promised me that he would pay me $4000 so that I can afford my Ranger (I got kinda ripped off... long insurance story), but since then he's gotten laid off, so he can't only not afford it, but I don't want to ask him anyways.

At any rate, thanks for the advice. I still check up on this site, you guys rock!

I got my 2000 T/A(A4) with 81,000 miles for $10,500. Wifey did alot of searching & found him. In Alabama the Ram-Airs are way overpriced!
