Default LS1 intake without EGR?

My buddy and I were trying to figure out whether there where any LS1 intakes made that don't have an EGR provision on the front of it. Thanks, Brian

No you will have to get a ls6 intake if you dont want the egr hole. The ls1 engine in the 01/02 f bodys have the ls6 intake.

I'm not sure but the C5 Corvette 97-00 used the LS1 intake manifold and I don't think they have EGR. However I could be totally wrong on this one.

If you got a LS1 intake and you dont want to buy a ls6 intake you can go to your local auto parts store and buy a block off plug for about $2.00 and block your egr hole in the ls1 intake

We were wondering if you could use that to identify an LS6 intake because it doesn't have the egr opening.

Thumbs up

Not all LS1 intakes have EGR holes. The 1997-2000 Corvette LS1 intake manifold DID NOT have an EGR system... hence no EGR hole. All 2001-2004 Covettes used the LS6 intake manifold and all 2001-2002 f-bodies used the LS6 intake manifold as well. SLP modifies the LS6 intake manifold so that the EGR can be retained.

I did not know this! I can't recall ever noticing an EGR system on a vette before, so you must be right.

Corvettes stop using EGRs on their intake since 1985 (IIRC). Best way to find out if an intake is an LS6 is look at the bottom side, it should be flat for it to be an LS6 (IIRC).

Check the sticky in the new LS1 owners/enthusiasts forum it details with pics how to ID the different intake manifolds.
