Default Bad times from early shifts

I went to the track tonight and my car ran a 15.5@92. I know it is because my tranny shifts weird. When floored, my car will acclerate up to like 3500 RPM, then stop. Then it continues up a little bit and shifts at around 4000 RPM. ALso, when I drive normaly around town it gets into 3rd or 4th gear(Depending if my car in D or OD.) in like 3 seconds. Anyone got any ideas why it shifts like this?

It has been doing this ever since I got it. I think maybe the car had a crappy tranny rebuild.I never really thought to much of it( Never watched where it shifted) but I drove my friends Trans AM(A4) and it shifted at 6000 RPM( He says it is a racing Tranny, but he don't really know anything). I watched mine and saw what it did. I was hoping the guage was jsut messed up but the track seems to say otherwise. Or these mods the car came with make it slower than stock.
