polish my own bottle?
I have a 10lb blue NOS bottle. I however have a nitrous express MAF plate so was considering self polishing it with some sand paper. Has anyone here ever polished their own bottles from blue NOS bottles? Pics would be nice!

strip it, sand it and hit it with a polishing wheel. you should hit it with a coat of clear once you polished it to prevent oxidization of the aluminium.

if its the anodized blue one the work will be quick and easy. you may even be able to start with 1500 grit to remove the blue and step up to 2000 and then use a wheel and polish. if its painted you will need to strip it and then follow the steps above. if the bottles are rough under the paint you will need to sand it smooth starting with 3xx grit and moving up.

If it is painted then aircraft grade paint stripper (@$10 to $15 a gal) will get the paint gone FAST. I would not recommend leaving it on the aluminum any longer than you have to to get the paint loose. A few minutes should do it depending on the quality of the paint used.
If it were me, I would then follow with 320grit, 600, 900 to 1000, then some wet sanding with the 1000 followed by hitting it with some 3M Hand Glaze (awesome stuff) before the final polishing/buffing.
Aluminum is very easy to polish and it should look awesome when you get it done. Keep us updated with some pics as you go.
Best of luck with your project aNuBiS.

i think your supposed to keep a sticker that shows the contents of the bottle. if you peel it off just get another from whoever you want(nos, nx, zex....) they sell them with thier conversion kits im sure you can pik up just a bottle sticker.

i prefer having someone else polish my bottle, but that might just be me....
yeah, technically you need the sticker to show the contents, but i doubt its a big deal.
post pics if you do decide to polish it!
